Frequently I have experienced poor (blurred) vision within an hour after having taken a Bikram class. The symptoms last anywhere from an hour to several hours. I am unable to focus my eyes or read. I have made special efforts to “super-hydrate” myself prior to and during class, but it hasn’t helped. Any thoughts on what may be causing this reaction? Any recommendations to help so I can continue with my Bikram practice?

    Hi Bill

The first thing I thought of was electrolytes. Perhaps you need to take some supplementation. Emer-gen C works and there are countless other products.

I was talking to my husband and he said that this used to happen to him.
It would take some time before he felt comfortable again. He frequently bathed/splashed his (dry) eyes at the sink after he had showered and changed after class.
Besides electrolytes, he suggests you could try some artificial tears.

He also said that when he first started practicing that pressure on his eyes in Rabbit pose was also a problem which when he relieved it, lessened blurring to an extent.

Hope that helps you Bill. Hydration is obviously important, but if you sweat heavily for example you need to replace more than just the water.

I’ve been doing Bikram yoga for 2 months and have also noticed the blurred vision. I put it down to the stinging sweat which has been running into my eyes each class. My eyes are still blurry in the next morning after an evening class. This passes after washing my face. I have been using liquid tears and this has helped. I am waiting for the time when my sweat no longer stings and irritates my eyes that has been mentioned after major toxins are cleared.
