I have access to two studios. Hours are near identical but studios are different.
First studio is “certified” Bikram studio, the works with nasty carpet. The room is controlled closely to 105F @ 40%RH and sweat is good. They have several instructors and feel of classes changes. Male owner is older and a bit on auto-pilot. (This is anonymous but honest). Room can get discouragingly over-crowded.
Second studio is run by friendly country couple. They have clean rubber floors. It is not Bikram but follows 26 poses. She has dyslexia like me. I get spoiled as classes range from 20+ to as little as two in huge room. Temp is 105 always but humidity is always 30%RH. It is a huge difference in sweat levels. I can concentrate on Yoga and not sweating. I wonder if too much sweat is really necessary, when strength building and spine conditioning are my goals for other sports and activities.
I feel more comfortable in my body in second studio and don’t mind falling out trying. I am fairly new and have a swimming background so some poses are easy and a few standing poses leaning forward are horrible.
Any thoughts on this?
Definitely go the second studio! Sounds fabulous. I think it is much more important that you enjoy your classes.
I’m a Bikramite, but your words, “I feel more comfortable in the second..” hint that you should really, really be going to the second studio 🙂 Are you worried that your’e not going to a traditional Bikram class? Is that where the hesitancy comes in?
Trust your intution!
I agree with the other two posters. Sounds like the place you like the most is the second one. Don’t second guess yourself. And if I were in your shoes I’d be going to the second one as well — I’ve been to many studios and will not return to a nasty one.
