I have to give props to Yoga practice for an amazing (for me) feat! Let me preface by saying that I have had chronic back and neck issues for years: wacky sacroiliac, bulging disks, arthritis in neck, yadda, yadda. Generally speaking, lifting and carrying (heck, even breathing wrong) can be very dicey and often leave me with painful flare-ups anywhere from the top of my spine to my tailbone.

My fiance and I just moved into a new house this week. For five days I have been carrying boxes down a flight of stairs from my old place, packing them into my car and then unloading them into the new place. An average of two car-loads a day. Aside from your average muscle ache I have encountered none of the usual pain and irritation that would normally plague me. Usually I’d be gimping around tossing back Advil after 30 minutes of this kind of activity.

I must credit Bikram Yoga for this wonderful experience. I haven’t been doing it that long (got turned onto it back in October) and haven’t even been able to be as consistent with it as much as I’d like (I make sure to do it at least 4 days a week). This kind of result encourages me to keep at it and get even better…

So far I have been practicing at home utilizing Bikram’s book and CD for reference as well as a couple of other dvds for shorter workouts. I look forward to purchasing a MasterClass pack as soon as the budget allows because I want to learn more about each posture and work on refining my practice.

I am loving this website and forum…Thanks, Gabrielle for your willingness to share your insights and allowing us to dialogue here.

    Had to share!

    Blessings!

Good for you! I love hearing positive stories like this.

I can tell you the Master Class book is very well done, and will give you a lot of technique in an organized way that even Bikram’s book doesn’t give you. Beautifully photographed as well. I’d love to have some of those shots on my wall!

    Thanks Helen and Kristin!

Much appreciated. It is amazing (but really shouldn’t be surprising) that when you look after your body, it looks after you!

    Namaste
    Gabrielle 🙂
