    Hello Gabrielle,

I am currently on day 19 of my 30 day challenge, and have developed sores, redness,& now scabs on the tops of my feet. It makes it very painful to get into Fixed Firm Pose. Some of the contributing factors can be my Breathe mat, a high instep or perhaps the fact that I did 5 doubles in my first 15 days of my challenge. I am considering going to teacher training in the fall & to help with the difficulty level I was hoping you might have a suggestion to avoid this pain.

Good for you Therese for sticking with it. Generally the hardest part of the challenge is getting to class every day. But unfortunately for you the physical stuff is getting in the way. It must be very hard for you to take yourself into poses that you know are going to hurt you.

I don’t know whether you sores are self-inflicted. 8-/ Doing 5 doubles could be the reason. But what you need is a solution! Perhaps for you some extra cushioning is going to help. A soft towel or some extra yoga mat rolled under you ankles in the appropriate poses. Also taking care of your sores. What I hate about scabs is that they lose the skin’s ability to be waterproof as they are healing. The moisture (sweat, and humidity) can soften them and make them take longer to heal. I like to use a waterproof spray on bandage. This will also protect you in the shower and allow faster healing, allowing the sores to remain uncovered. Of course you may need to consider a bandage while your feet are still vulnerable.

    Hope that helps you.
    Kind regards
    Gabrielle 🙂

Please check your omega 3;6;9 intake as well. You have to oil the body inside – out…usually the cause of sores are not enough healthy fats in the body.
Your sores will heal lot faster too. I would suggest Krill oil. Good luck. Gina
