Hi everyone,
I’ve been a member of this forum for a while now and always found great help in my questions. My hot yoga journey continues and I’m now a certified hot yoga teacher. I’m up in Scandinavia and our city lacks hot yoga studios so I’m opening my own little studio.
Now I’m trying to decide on the proper heating system. The space is about 6×6 metres (60×60 feet) and the ceiling is low 220 cm (6’6).
I’ve been reading about the benefits of infra red and here I mean the FAR INFRARED, the type they use in infrared saunas.
I’ve tried to find proper answers but haven’t found anything especially about FAR inrared.
Since you being a doctor (besides a hot yoga doctor) I’d like to know what do you think about creating a studio space with this type of inrared heating? Can the students practice 90 minutes under FAR infrared? Are there health issues I should consider? Are the “normal” hot yoga studios heated with hot air blowers? If I choose this infra red heating do I also need to use humidifiers? Our country is very dry especially in winter.
I’d greatly, greatly appreciate any help. I’m making a big investment and taking a leap of faith here so I need as much info as possible.
Namaste.Hi Feenix
Firstly before we go anywhere with this please can you confirm for us all …
The size of your studio you mention as 6 by 6 metres but then you say 60 feet by 60 feet. These measurements don’t correlate. It’s probably not 60 feet. 😉 But just in case, I would hate to make any wrong assumptions.
So please just let us know so we can help you!

Gabrielle 🙂Hehee, it’s 6 metres by 6 metres – I’m at loss in inches; I tried to use a converter and apparently it went wrong. It’s not a big space. Ceiling height 220 centimetres.
Thanks!Hi Feenix
What has your research drawn you to in terms of heating? BTW my first studio was similar in size to yours. Anyway, it’s been 3 weeks since your post so tell me if you still have the same questions.

Gabrielle 🙂Hello,
I would actually like to know as well. We have opened a studio that is 750 square feet, floor to ceiling windows and 9 feet ceilings. We already have the yoga room built so we are not able to place an HVAC system separate for this room. What are you suggestions to create a Hot Yoga experience. We have bought portable heaters and far infrared heaters for the room but it appears that it’s not heating the room evenly. We are aware that the windows are eating up all the hot air but once we place insulated blinds on them we are hoping that the heat will generate more evenly in the room. Do you have suggestions for an economical way of doing hot yoga for a room. Also are there portable humidifiers that can be placed in the room in order to reach the 40% humidity.
Your response is greatly appreciated.
Namaste.
