I have pulled or strained the gluteous minimus on both legs. They have been injured for approximately 2 years. I have been doing the yoga recordings from Inhale with Steve Ross. I can’t seem to get them to heal. I have tried Celebrex and rest for a couple of weeks but it did not work. What should I do? Thanks!

Isn’t it ‘funny’ (strange funny, not haha funny) how we can put up with pain and discomfort for so long? I have the Happy Yoga book, it is quite a good read. But I am unfamiliar with the class you write about.
I am curious to find out how you know it is your gluteus minimus. Did the diagnosis come from a doctor? Has anything ever given you any relief? And if so, what was it?
Oh dear! Here comes another question. Have you ever tried Bikram Yoga? Because the second last exercise is perfect for creating a beautiful stretch in this area. And the one legged poses will help you build the strength.
Positioned at the end of the class, you have thoroughly warmed up the body and systematically worked right through it. Plus, by this stage your body is tired and you have far less resistance to the movements. So consequently the stretches are deep and satisfying.
This twist is an elixir!! Kind of like the cherry on the top!If you are close to a studio then I would highly recommend Hot Yoga workouts, but I guess you may have guessed that. 😉 Seriously though, the spine twist pose is perfect, especially if you know (or get taught) how to maintain correct alignment.
Looking forward to your response
Gabrielle 🙂Just putting Donna’s reply in here for Gabrielle to respond too (it was posted over on the blog).
Hi!
Thanks for you quick response. I have not had an official diagnosis on my gluteous minimus. My stepdaughter who is in nursing school says that is what it is. It is just below my butt. The Celebrex helps only while I am on it. The pose that is the most painful is the one where I simply reach down to touch the floor. I have looked up Bikram Yoga on the internet before and have the poses printed out. I will give it a try. The Yoga I have been doing is on the Oxygen channel at 5 a.m. central time. It is called Inhale.Hi Donna
I recommend going to a studio first to familiarize yourself with the series before taking it on at home, alone.
Still, you have the forum to ask questions…
Kind regards
Gabrielle 🙂 -
