    Hi diesel17

Just wondering if you can supply more information. Heating is usually looked at with respect to volume or cubic measurements. Perhaps some more information; even how high your ceilings are. The area you have is not huge but if your ceilings are 12 ft high it would make an appreciable difference compared with a room that has a 10 foot ceiling.

May I recommend that you thoroughly insulate the space in any and every way you can. The money you spend on insulation will save you thousands in heating bills. It will cut down on the amount of time you have to pre-heat the space and you will reach your desired temperatures much more quickly.

Have you approached any heating professionals yet? Here is some information that you may have come across in another part of the forum. One of my friends is a heating engineer and designs systems for hot yoga studios in the US:

Incidentally, for any studios/teachers reading this thread with interest, we’ve had a ton of heating specifications help from Chad at http://www.hotyogastudiodesign.com/

This should be a snap for him as he often deals with heating to much higher temperatures. Get in touch as I am sure he will be happy to give you some advice.

    Namaste

    Hi diesel17 and Gabrielle,

I practice hot yoga in Scandinavia and our studio is heated with infrared heaters that our teacher says doctors use as well. They supposedly kill germs as well so the studio is more hygienic. The thing is that the room never feels very hot – even though the temperature is 38-39 celsius. The room is filled with oxygen and practicing is quite easy due to that. But I’ve heard about the insane heat that teachers like to have in the room so I’m not sure if these heaters are able to heat the room like that. Personally I like to breathe that fresh oxygen 🙂

    Hi,
I found this thread because I’m in the process of researching infrared heating and heating options for a studio that my partner and I are planning, which funnily enough happens to be in Scandanavia! Our contractor suggested that we will have to use infrared heating but we are looking to find some other type of industrial space heaters (electric) powerful enough to to heat a 150 square meter/1,600 square foot space up to 37-38 degrees C (98.6-100.4 degrees F). I’m not sure the ceiling height, but we intend to build a studio in an existing space that has vaulted ceilings, so I think not too high. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
I’m also curious to know more about the use of infrared heat in a studio that large. I see alot about home use on the internet, and a few studios that specifically call it “infrared hot yoga”. I’ve never practiced with infrared heat, but what I’m reading makes it sound like quite a different experience than the “hot yoga” I’m used to? Do they use humidifiers in your studio in Scandanavia as well? And do you happen to know if they use infrared heat due to some kind of health regulation? My partner and I are still in the process of finding out all the regulations in our country, but so far I’m getting the impression they are a bit stricter here than in the United States as far as as permits and requirements for ventilation, health codes etc.
    thanks,
    Leta

Funny…I found this forum in my quest to do the same…to get that “hot room”

Not sure your constraints…but I have a small room 3×3 m perhaps. I have found if I plug in two separate 1500w oil filled heaters and screen off the windows (with fabric over the glass) I can get it to 96 F! Almost there without having to make any modifications. Am thinking of a IR light above to give me that extra boost.
