    Hi Gabriele
my name is sunny , I am experienced yoga coach also i am a great fan of you and lucas
i have a lots of videos and notes of you and lucas,
what i want to ask you i.e. i sometime i feel a little stiffness in my right leg also numbness in my right foot, i have a flexible body but in spite of that it happens,
once i went to the doctor and after watching x-rays he advised me to stay away from
yoga exercises because i have disc herniation, i tried to stay away from yoga, but i could not do that because yoga is my life, when i am teaching in class i cant stop practicing, i teach yoga without taking any money from my students, some people says that if i not stop yoga practice it can result a permanent damage of my sciatica nerve,
my flexibility also decreases day by day
can you suggest me if i get rid of this pain permanently,
have you seen the persons like me who got cured,
    sorry for taking your time

    Hello Sunny,

My name is Jeff and i have been suffering from lower back pain for over a year now. I have a bulging disc or DDD in my L4-L5 disc which is impinging on my sciatic nerve. I just want to say, from my own personal experience, hot Yoga has been extremely beneficial to my own recovery. When I was first diagnosed I could not stand up long enough to take a shower. After several injections to the site, chiropractic adjustments 3 x a week, Physical therapy, Acupuncture and Pain Medicine, I finally started Yoga and I have noticed a remarkable difference, not only in my lowered pain scores but in overall health. I’ve talked to my neurologist about my Yoga practice and he is all for it.

I would seek a second opinion before giving up the Yoga and also get an MRi or Ct Scan.

Also type in Lower Back pain to the search engine on the site and read what other Hot Yogi’s have to say about combating lower back pain through their Yoga practice. Robert and Gabrielle will have a ton of info for you as well so you’re in good hands!!

Best wishes on a speedy recovery!!

    Jeff

    Hello Sunny and Jeff

Thank you both for your lovely comments. They are much appreciated. Sunny, it may be helpful to know what style of yoga you are practicing.

And Jeff is right, if you haven’t already, please go and read other threads on low back pain, and sciatica (using the search facility above! For sciatica just search on ‘sciatic’ because it will get more results) and see what others say.

Come back here to enlighten us with your thoughts and ideas and of course what style of yoga you are doing.

    Namaste
    Gabrielle 🙂

    Thanks Jeff, for your advise,

Gabrielle, Thanks very much for your immediate response.
This world is like an heaven only because of yoga people like you are.

Yeah, I have searched on herniated disc and i found a lot of websites most of them are selling their useless products and ideas for treating herniated disc. i know just because i am a yoga coach i have some knowledge about human body but not as much as you have.

I will search on sciatic as you said, gabrielle.

We practice Hatha Yoga, long holding yoga poses for one hour (each pose for one min to five min max)and the cleanising Kiryas for one hour such as Jal Dhoti,(cleansing with water)
Vastra Dhoti (Cleansing of stomach with cloth) and Neti (cleansing of nostrils ). We also practice Pranayama with three bandhas (standing and sitting), Nauli, basti etc.

I can remember when i have injured myself one year back, i have organized a Yoga camp in a big social club, there was a swimming pool in that club, after the class is over at 7 am i went for swimming , i was unknown about the fact that is the water level on that pool was low.
I was doing diving from the top and when i fell down i injured my hips because of low water, i did not bother much and took some MR tablets because next day was the Yoga Demonstration day. I was not feeling much pain but i had a feeling of a little stiffness on my back, Slowly that stiffness was increased and after eight months once i felt numbness on my right foot,
now, i feel pain and some numbness in my right leg while sitting.

Pashchimotan and full lotus were my favorite poses, but i can not practice it now,
i have flexibility in my entire body but the problem is on my lower back, i always feel some heaviness around my lower back, I am 30 years old and my weight is exactly 70 kg.

Now , in these days i only practice Mool Bandh in pranayam, i hold my breath for 1 minute and during that time i practice Mool Bandha,
I ve read that mool Bandha is beneficial for Lumber discs problems.

Sorry for taking your so much time,
Thanks a Lot, and god bless you and your lovely family,
    Bye,
    Sunny

    Sunny,

Try typing in Sciatic or Lower Back Pain to the search box at the top of the screen just under the picture of Gabrielle and directly under where the click here icon is for the Master Training Book.
