Hi. Thanks for a wonderful forum. I had a L5/S1 disectomy in 2009. Continuing regular hot yoga (3 times/week) helped my recovery well and I moved into mixed styles as Bikram only seemed to plateau.

Last year in October something went wrong and the yoga was not helping. I felt constant lower back ache and much instability. Regular massage and chiropractic advice have not improved it. My core is much weaker now.

I’m determined to get back to yoga and see if I can get back on track. Any tips or poses to avoid for someone with my age (47) and history? I’m going to complete daily gentle core exercises for starters.

    Hi Nick

Thank you so much for your lovely compliment. I am sorry to hear you’re having problems. Can you please tell me what styles of yoga you are practising at the moment, how often for each style.

What gives you relief from your pain?

What brings on the pain now? Is it constant at the moment?

That will get the ball rolling

    Namaste
    Gabrielle 🙂
