Hiya, ive been taking bikram classes for a while now but i can’t stand being in the smelly studio anymore, i can taste it on my breath after class its pretty nasty

Im thinking of getting an infrared heater for at home

    Has anyone tried this?

    Peace

    Hi Chronic

Oh dear! That old problem is still a big and prevalent one.

I have no experience with infrared heaters but I do know that they have been commented on in a number of posts. What I did was simply put the word ‘infrared’ in the search facility and came up with these posts on heating at home! I hope they can point you in the right direction and give you some answers.

In the meantime you may get some responses from others in the forum (who either have a good solution for home studio heating, or maybe even some words from people who attend a studio with infrared heating).

Let us know what you decide to to!

Hi Chronic – yes Gabrielle didn’t realize the link is localized to the person searching! Just type in “infra red” (without the quotes) into the search box and you’ll get the results!

This morning i used a normal oil filled heater & it works fine, lots of heat & sweat, but im hoping the infrared will be better for my muscles/joints & be more efficient on the energy bills.

I like the idea that infrared works from inside out, kinda like yoga!

ive used it and its increcible

i sweated just as much as i did in the bikram class & it felt really good

its best to adjust the heater through different asanas, but mainly i just have it pointing up when im doing standing poses, then point down when im doing floor poses
the heater does need to be pointed at you, you can’t just have it in the room, it must be pointed at you as infrared heats up objects not air

when you close your eyes its like basking in the sun, its incredible

    it also heats up instantly

the only problem is i think i enjoy it too much, the electricity bill is gonna be scary, still, can’t cost more then the gym i used to go to!

i highly recommend this to anyone…

    Tnx for the heads up!

I thoght i should add that, if your going to use an infrared heater that glows, you must protect your eyes!

Get some sunglasses that block 100% infrared or get a ceramic infrared heater

lol i know, but its best to be safe really

you can get ceramic infrared heaters which don’t glow so are safe for your eyes
but the one i got is like having the sun in my room, which i really like
theres nothing like having that glow hit you in the morning!

sunglasses are the cheesy price i have to pay 😉

maybe it’ll start a new trend lol, a room full of people practicing yoga in sunglasses
