    Yes Cynthia, a resounding yes!

Those uninitiated in Hot Yoga find it hard to believe that your heart beat could possibly raise when you are standing still. Well fear not. There is plenty of cardiovascular exercise in one 90 minute class.

To give you an idea, Danielle asked before how many calories are burned for an average female. My research shows that for general yoga the number is about 290 to low 300s. But for Bikram Yoga it is 500-1000 calories.

Many students make Hot Yoga their sole formal exercise going several times per week.

I was a runner for 24 years, ran 7 or 8 marathons in my day. I started Bikram yoga hoping to become more flexible. Within 3 mo., it became clear to me I was getting the same “runner’s high” in Bikram. The effects of cardio.

Never have i run again, and having been doing Bikam for 3 years.

I agree. Bikram is enough. Especially with consistent practice!
