    Hi Gabrielle
In your Hot Yoga Master Class book you say that in Fixed Firm, if you can’t keep your knees on the floor it is best not to lie back.
I have tried this advice out and found it is very sensible for me. I get a beautiful stretch in my knees and ankles when I keep my torso vertical and push my bottom down between my ankles, but when I lie back my knees still come off the floor, and I don’t get the same intensity of stretch in the knees.
I also find it hard to keep my shins to the floor due to tight ankles. This also affects other poses such as rabbit, tortoise and tree that work the ankle joints.
It just shows the wisdom of listening to teachers. This is a great example of needing to get the foundations in place before moving to the next step.
    Thanks, Robert

    Very much appreciated feedback, Robert.

Keep it up! You’ll notice that paying attention to this small detail has flow-on effects on those other poses (and in fact, most of the others because you’re using the correct physiological mechanisms). The results are evident in your whole practice very quickly. You’ll probably also be lying back soon too!

    Namaste
    Gabrielle 🙂
