so i’ve hit a wall with my half locust and locust pose and was wondering if any other ladies with breast implants can help… i’m at the stage where i can tuck my elbows in completely, but there is a lot of pressure on my chest and it feels uncomfortable on my implants. up until now, i’ve been doing it halfway, but i’m not feeling the pressure on my elbows, which is what you’re supposed to feel according to the script. and according to the script, it feels extremely uncomfortable, if not impossible, to roll the weight to my shoulders in locust pose. are there any other ladies out there who have had more success with this pose?
thank you!!!
I am not sure which locust pose you are doing, I googled half and is that where your legs are up? We do the locust in class where your arms are strait out and you raise arms and legs. I have breast implants, I am a C now and I was an A. I never noticed my breast in floor poses before the implants but now, I feel like they are going to pop, I cant wait to go up into lotcus or bow just to stop laying on them. I am 4 months post-op from overs and the more I practice the less it hurts. But, its pretty uncomfortable and I imagine it will be for quite a while but its only laying on my stomach they bother me, they didn’t hinder the arm balances or the joy of yoga.
thanks for your reply michelle! it’s the two poses before the full locust pose you described… the one where you put both arms under and mouth to the towel is especially uncomfortable. i know what you mean… when i first started, even doing the floor savansana on my belly was SO uncomfortable, but i don’t even notice it now… it’s probably really good for them 😛
Hi Jonny
If your breasts are impeding your height and transferring pressure to your elbows because your arms are together there is something you can do.
My suggestion is to experiment with your arm placement. While the ‘dialog’ tells you to get your arms as close as you can get them, this may be causing you grief. Find a position that is OK for the elbows. This may mean moving them apart a little bit.
You can move arms in and outward to achieve better comfort for your breasts, elbows and wrists. Of course your arms should always be symmetrically placed.
With breast implants you may have to be satisfied that this pose will have its limits for you. You may never be able to get the leverage by ‘pressing your heart’ into the floor, but you can create a sufficiently satisfying pose! 😉
Namaste
