    Hi All…

I’m beginner in term of experience to bikram yoga and this is my first post…

I am interesting in going to early morning classes… To tell you the truth I’m not a morning person… But it is that the only time I will find to get back into bikram yoga…

Currently I have been practicing bikram yoga on and off for about an year… But I have always attended evening classes after work…

Since I have never experienced a morning class,,, I would like to know how prepare for 8am morning class. To me preparation for a class is very important me…

I would know how different yogis prepare for their morning class..

What time to wake up time??? How long to wake up before the class???

What to eat before class??? When to eat before a morning class???

How much water to drink before class???

I know its different for different people,,, but if I can get a general idea that would be great…

I am a little apprehensive about the morning class… I don’t want to faint or collapse since I didn’t eat or drink enough prior to class…

I would greatly appreciate any advice…

    Thank You…

    Everyone is different.
I love to practice at 9:30, I’ll wake up at 7, have some tea and some granola, then drink some water after that. Then I’ll work until I have to leave for class.
I have trouble doing the early morning class, I’m just not bendable that early.
At training I had to get used to less sleep, and a different schedule. Class was at 8:30, and since I never had enough sleep, I tried getting up at 7:45, and make it t class. No food, and just some water, and that worked too.

It depends on your body and your head. Some times you will need different things, but overall it sounds like you know the deal, food a couple of hours before class if there is time, water all the time.

    Hi

I generally practice at a 6 a.m. morning class 4-5 days a week and def recommend it as a fabulous way to start your day 🙂 (It also means there is less chance of missing a practice because of other commitments etc.)

I get up 45 mins before, and straight away drink several glasses of water and take some “Yogabody” supplements. I find that because its not as hot as the evening classes that I don’t feel dehydrated and often do the class without water.

Its amazing how much the heat changes your class and there are days when I find myself wishing it was hotter!

I can’t get as deep in some of the poses as I can in a night class, but it gives me a chance to concentrate more on the form and just being present etc.

By the time I get to work I feel ready to conquer the world! (Unfort I’m still waiting for the “needing less sleep” bit to kick in, as I find with the early morning starts I’m in bed very early at night?)

    Stay bendy

    Hi,
I’ve found that taking the early morning class is such an amazing way to start the day. Although it is VERY difficult to get myself out of bed! The studio I go to has a 6am class everyday. Usually I’ll get up around 5am, have some juice, water and a piece of fruit and get to class by 5:40 to lay in savasna and stretch before class. I am definitely not as bendy as I am in the evening classes, but I find it much easier to relax my mind and stay focused. And when I’m leaving the studio refreshed and revived, I feel like nothing can bring me down!

    Hi!

I practice mostly in the mornings with only the occasional evening class. I do 3 classes a week at 6 am! and Saturday at 7:30 am.

I make sure i drink alot of water the night before and a few sips during the drive to the studio. I have my breakfast when I get to work after the class. My gym bag and clothes are all packed IN the car the night before, it is more work to take them out of the car than to get into the car in the morning.

The studio is half way between home and my office so the lighter traffic is a great motivator as well.

I am not as flexible as an evening class and nothing feels better than the first warm up poses first thing in the morning. There are fewer people in the studio and you have to be pretty dedicated in your practice to do an early class so everyone is really focused. I also find that my mind is quieter in the morning and I am energized for the day after class. Morning classes are my favorite!

I like doing the morning classes, but my schedule has me at the 7PM classes at my studio these days.

I get all my stuff ready the night before so I don’t have to stress about it in the morning. My outfit for the day is packed, my work stuff, etc. I go to the studio in my yoga clothes. Class is at 6:30 AM and I like getting there early so I get up at 5:15, drink a couple of glasses of water and hop on the bus. I don’t eat before class and I’m never really all that hungry and manage to make it through the class ok.

It’s true that it doesn’t feel as hot as the evening classes and I think it’s because the # of people in class is relatively small at 6:30AM, so less body heat in the room.

I’m curious about this as well. I have been afraid of morning class because of the food water issue. I have been worried about not getting enough calories and water in and the feeling faint or sick in class.

I understand the other things people are talking about for mornings, but any advice on diet. That seems to affect practice a lot.

    Hi Pamela

It really does pay to experiment. I personally don’t like eating before a morning class. But if I were hungry then I would drink a home-made organic veggie juice. You might be good with an apple! Of course drink a lot because when you get up you’re dehydrated from the night before. If you’re getting up for an early morning class some people have to drink more IN class than they would later on in the day because of the difficulties of getting enough fluid in before class.

    Thanks!

I did my first morning class today and was fine. I also did class last night so it took some planning for me with food and water. I drank a lot after class and then when I got up. I had a good, but not heavy dinner after class last night and got good sleep. Got up this morning and had strawberries and blueberries with rice milk. Drank my water and went to class.

I am pretty new at this so classes that close together was interesting. Class wasn’t hard but after a shower and lunch. I took a nap.

    Thanks again,

    Namaste.
