I have been practicing Bikram yoga for many years…quite consistently and regularly for the last 2. Recently…after a few weeks hiking in the mountains (and not doing yoga) I came back to my yoga with some new obstacles.
Here is my hip question.
In Eagle pose
I sit low…my arms seem to be wrapped correctly…i get my torso pretty straight…I wrap my RIGHT leg all the way around my calf and sink nicely…it feels right and good.
However on the other side…everything is the same…except I can’t get my left leg wrapped around my right.
I assumed this was due to a tight LEFT hip but I always thought my RIGHT hip was the tighter of the two. As suggested by my Tree pose…here I am holding my LEFT foot…standing nice and tall knees aligned etc…I can bring both my hands to prayer position without sliding or swaying (as they say)… a nice straight back. However when I am holding my RIGHT foot (the first side) I cannot let go of my foot…in fact I have to hold my foot pretty firmly so as not to lose the grip.
Perhaps these issues are completely unrelated but I’d like some tips to get more aligned and balanced on each side…in both of these postures.
Also a bit curious…I did not have these issues BEFORE I took a 3 week mountain hiking trip (came back a bit stiff…some knee pain…and the above issues)
Thanks and more thanks….
