Hi.
I am new to this site and very new to Bikram/Hot Yoga… I still have never tried it. I plan to begin my first challenge next week. =]
First off, I would like to take my time and explain why I wanna try hot yoga. I have extremely terrible circulation in my body. I am a 27-year-old woman but I have the legs of a 60 yr old. Mainly because I’ve developed varicose veins and cellulite (i’m not overweight or anything) but this is due to my poor circulation. My feet are always cold and my ankles are permanently swollen. I’ve had people ask me if I should be walking with my ankles so swollen, but truth is, I walk great and they’re mistaken, it’s a side-effect from having bad circulation and veinous reflux disease.
Another major issue, is recently i was diagnosed with Apolecia Areata, which is a skin condition that makes patches of hair fall out of my head. i was told that was probably caused due to poor circulation to the brain and stress.
My mental health hasn’t been great either. I am not depressed or anything. But I’ve been very mentally asleep/lack of energy, and I notice it’s drastically getting worse over the last couple years. I’m having a hard time concentrating during conversation, I’ve become somewhat awkward and now socially nervous because I just feel like I’m not mentally ‘awake’ anymore.
I have decided to try a more natural approach to bettering my mental and physical health. That is why I choose Bikram yoga.
My question is for hot yoga enthusiasts… Do you think I will get satisfactory results trying Bikram with my condition?
I plan to go to Bikram 3 times per week and trying it for the next month, at least. How quickly should I start seeing these results?
1) Mental awareness and energetic/upbeat behavior?
2) Varicose veins and leg/ankle swelling goes down?
3) Cellulite decreases? And what would you say are the first changes you notice about your body, after beginning hot yoga? What are some of the first positive changes?
Hi Alicia
I notice nobody has responded to your post! I have been away and so now that I am back I will ask you firstly:
Did you start your hot yoga practice? And if so, what have been your experiences?
If you haven’t then I will answer those questions with pleasure. I would certainly love to know how you’ve been going.
The good news is that I believe that you should get positive results on all of those major 3 areas you mention. I will go into more detail when you get back to me. It won’t take so long to get a response this time I promise!
Namaste
