It happens often that i do yoga one day and then for maybe two days i have no energy in my body to a new yogapass.
I start trying two or three poses but its no energy in my body to continue.
I just stop and wait for next day.
I hope its getting better with time…
    Happens to you to?

    Hi Mathis,

I am sorry to hear of your lack of energy…Yoga should be giving you more energy or PRANA not depleting it at all. My suggestion is that you focus squarely on your breathing as this will be your most vital tool. Breathing is life. It is one of our most vital functions. Prana enters the body through the breath and is sent to every cell through the circulatory system. Pranayama is the practice in which the control of prana is achieved (initially) from the control of one’s breathing. According to Yogic philosophy the breath, or air, is merely a gateway to the world of prana and its manifestation in the body. In yoga, pranayama techniques are used to control the movement of these vital energies within the body, which is said to lead to an increase in vitality in the practitioner. Prana is a Sanskrit word literally meaning ‘life-force’ the invisible bio-energy or vital energy that keeps the body alive and maintains a state of good health. It’s all about creating balance to open psychic awareness, and the nature of reality and one’s place in it. Here are a few link to some videos to help you along your journey…

Thank you artwednesday for posting those technique videos: mini yoga/pranayama/meditation 101 lessons! :cheese:

    Hi Mathis

Knowing that yoga is about the breath, and the energy and life giving properties of the breath IS important of course. It is the basis of your yoga practice.

I do want to find out a little more. You seem to feel a little dismayed, you want to know if what you are feeling is normal and when you should expect improvement.

It would be helpful to learn what your experience has been so far with hot yoga. Are you a total beginner? How long have you been practicing?

We can work out whether you body is still in the process of acclimatizing – which is a real physiological process the progress of which can be mapped out – or whether there is something else could be considered.

    ok.

Ive learned yoga a few years ago but now im trying to practice more regular..
    I want to practice 4-5 times a week…
So i know im still in this acclimatizing process…

I hope its getting better if i just continoue trying the days my strenght is not draind.
Ive tried to push myself even then im tired but it hits back and yoga becomes very boring then i force my body against its will…
And then i quit for maybe several month… 🙁
    Must find a balance…
How do you find balance? tired stiff body and practice yoga to progress strengh?

I feel good after yogapass, the whole day, energy even next morning, sometimes it can be problems to sleep after yoga…. to much energy in head to sleep. 🙂

    (sry for my bad english)

    Hi Mathis

I think I can decipher your English :cheese:

You may not realize it but you answer your own question. This is good! You may just be resisting what your body is trying to tell you. 😉

It seems that you get very tired sometimes and very energized at others. You mentioned you are finding it difficult to go to sleep sometimes. And also you mentioned

Ive tried to push myself even then im tired but it hits back and yoga becomes very boring then i force my body against its will…

Both these things are telling you that your mind is very busy thinking about things.

    So consider the following:
You could think about doing your classes earlier in the day if this is possible. Maybe the energy in your body (and mind) will dissipate and you will fall asleep more easily.

Allow yourself the process of learning how to let go. Let go of expectations of how you should feel, how you should approach your practice, how hard you should be working. A lot of this is tied in with artwednesday’s recommendations: learning how to meditate, how to bring the attention back to the breath, to the present moment. You can look for meditation courses, and/or you could simply keep going to hot yoga frequently and experience how the activity in your mind will slow down all by itself!!! A regular frequent practice does the most amazing things.

Find how to surrender into your poses without pushing against the will of your body. You may find that instantly your energy levels will rise. Your body will be less stiff too. And strength will improve.

And let yourself enjoy the process.

    Ok. thanks!

    I will follow your advise.

“”Find how to surrender into your poses without pushing against the will of your body. You may find that instantly your energy levels will rise. Your body will be less stiff too. And strength will improve.””

    i like that. 🙂

Yes, its so easy when im in a pose and feel the stretch that i go furter until its “hurts” a little.
I will try from now to stay in the pose and give my body the time it maybe need.
I have not the room heated either so i guess thats even more important to take it slowly…
I think that can help me.

    thanks!
