Hello,
Any advice would be helpful! A few weeks ago, I believe that I pushed myself too hard in the standing head-to-knee, balancing stick and toe stand poses. Since that time, I’ve had pain and tingling in my right leg whenever I try any of these poses. The pain is particularly intense when standing on the right leg in balancing stick pose and toe stand.
I am also unable to do standing separate leg stretching pose without feeling intense pain on my right foot. I think that this is mainly the result of transitioning directly from balancing stick pose, which really hurts!
Twisting of the leg has also been affected: I used to do tree pose and spine twisting pose pretty easily, but now it is extremely painful to bend my right leg that way. I have been modifying spine twisting pose by keeping my right leg straight when twisting to the left.
Is there any way to “treat” this pain or modify the poses so that it goes away? I have tried just working through it and doing the poses, but that seems to make things worse…
Please help! I would greatly appreciate any suggestions…
Thanks.
hummmm sounds like your piriformis muscle might be too tight in you right buttock from what I can read…
Toe stand and spine twist will stretch it a lot witch would cause the pain. The sciatic nerve goes through that muscle. When it’s too tight, the nerve gets compressed and causes pain going down the leg.

Great tip: have a tennis ball and lay down on your back. Put the massage ball under your right buttock. Apply some pressure where you locate the pain. It’s a great tip and help to loosen up the muscle.
Hope I helped a bit!
Thank you so much! My symptoms match up with your hypothesis… I will definitely try the tennis ball trick and hope that it helps….
