I tried the 60 min class on the iPad app in my hotel room but I didn’t get a single drop of perspiration as there was no way to turn off the air conditioning. Does my practice still work?? 🙁

    Hi Blushe,

Good news! Yoga works whether it’s practised in a hot room or not. 🙂

Exercising in heat has its benefits but if you don’t happen to be surrounded by heaters it won’t lessen the numerous positive effects of practising yoga.

Fortunately because that would mean that only hot yoga is good for you – and that certainly isn’t true 😉 The more you move your body, the more internal heat it’ll accumulate, which can result in a really sweaty work out too. So feel free to carry on with your ‘home practice’. Sweaty or not, it’ll do you good.

    Namaste,

    Andrea

    Yes, well said Andrea!

I’ll add in my own experience too, having practiced in many a hotel room and also on holiday; in the guest bedroom of my Mum & Dad’s house … it does feel weird not sweating (and maybe even not quite as “loose” as when there is full-on heat?) but it’s definitely still beneficial!

What’s more, it keeps your “yoga credit” topped up … so when you do get back to a heated room, you’ll be in a similar place to when you left it.

“Better to do, than not” … Yoda (actually he didn’t say that at all, but I think it would sound great if he did!)

Blushe, I take it you managed to get the audio sorted out OK then?

    Thanks,

    Robert

I have practiced on vacation in a hotel room– I take a hot bath first before I start.. When I return to the hot studio I have kept my flexibility and actually seem to be more flexible I think in areas I was a little sore…
