Would love to hear from you on what brand of yoga mat would be best for hot yoga. Hot yoga room has wooden floors…
– not slippery
– not too heavy but not too thin
– does not absorb sweat (don’t mind using skidless towels, but would love the option of not having to)
– does not get easily stained
– not too pricey
– low maintenance pleaseHelp!
I use Breathe Yoga mats. My studio has carpeted floors so I don’t know what it would be like on wood. They absorb sweat but it feels a lot more dry than a Yogitoes towel. They’re on the expensive side but it’s a mat and towel in one so it’s easy maintenance and transportation.
The conventional towel on a standard yoga mat is a really good option. It’s cheap, easy maintenance and it grips wooden floors well. My only gripe with this option is that towels very rarely are the same size as a yoga mat.
My wife and I both have mats from PUR EARTH. Excellent products. They grip well, dry fast and are well made. I have been using mine for about 5 months and it looks and feels like new. Once a month I wash it in the shower even though it never seems to smell. I always use a super absorbent towel over mine just because I sweat so much. So I can’t say how this mat will be without a towel, although the mat is textured for grip. Here is one link to them: http://muscleup.ca/shop/pur-earth-eco-mat-6mm-p-632.html I bought mine at our local yoga studio.
I have one of those too. I had a cheaper one and I found by the end of the class, it was compacted down to nothing on the floor. This one keeps a bit of cushion between me and the floor. I use the yogitoes towel over it.
Thanks so much for all the advice! Really appreciate it. 🙂
I have 2 and they are both from Gaiam. Just the ones you can pick up at Target for $20.00 or less. I am thinking of investing in a more expensive one though.
I also just throw them in the washing machine every couple of weeks, and then let them air dry. A yoga teacher gave me that tip!
