    Hi

I have practise yoga now for 5 days 😉
But every time my face is extremly red!
Is that normal if you are a beginner?
I’m a litte bit concern about that.

    Hi sves

It can be normal for the face to go red. Mine does from time to time even now!

Just make sure you are breathing and not working so hard (or too hard) that you are struggling. Pay attention to the hierarchy of breath and alignment and don’t go deep unless your alignment is really spot on.

Being only 5 classes in (congratulations) you are still acclimatizing to the heat and the actual physical positions. Your body is undergoing physiological change and is getting stronger in many systems; cardiovascular, respiratory, muscular etc etc. Be gentle enough on yourself in your work to allow these completely natural changes to occur and for the gradual unfolding of the understanding of the poses themselves holistically.

I have the exact same issue and it has been a lifetime thing. The fact that you are working hard in a heated environment means your body has to work hard to cool itself. Along with sweating, your body increases its rate of blood flow especially to the blood vessels in your skin (dermal) layer to carry the heat away. Blood flows through those blood vessels in order to cool your body down. This is really normal. If you are fair or have thin/translucent skin, the increased blood flood through your skin will make your face look very very red. Not much you can do about this, I fear.
If there was something I could do, I would have done it, trust me. My face gets very red no matter what the exercise, to the point where it wis downright embarrassing to exercise at lunch because my work colleagues point out my red face and make fun of me!
Don’t worry about the red face. It just means that you are working hard and your body is doing what it is supposed to do in order to cool cown and keep your core body temperature normal.

    Hi

I too had the super red face it remained red for a while after class too. I finally started to really pay attention to my breathing, in and out my nose. It made a huge difference. I am also learning by paying attention to my breathing I can control my anxiety during the spine series. I am often tempted to take big gulps of air thru my mouth but once I do it everything seems out of control and my heart races and is hard to calm down. I just keep thinking in and out the nose in and out the nose. It has helped so much. I now can do an errand after class without people wondering why my face is so red! Good Luck!

Yes, I join the red face club, look like a red tomato after class. The only thing I noticed is, that may face or better my skin is very sensitive. I guess I have to put lots of moisterizer on.

Has anyone found that this has occurred at other times randomly? My face goes a little red in class (I’m usually one for going bright red through exercise) but I too have found the breathing really helps. Recently however, I’ve noticed my face going bright red at various times throughout the day and my body feels hot too. I’m 31 (so hopefully no menopause yet) and have been taking 4 classes a week for about 3 months.

    Hi Briar

I have only ever my face go red like that during and after yoga class. It’s a random experience for me. I have yet to be able to explain what the variables are that make my face red and stay red for up to a couple of hours after class.
