    Hello

I’ll cut right to the chase here. I have poor posture and have rounded shoulders. I just wondered how much you have seen someone improve by doing this sort of yoga. I have difficulty in doing some postures because of it. For example in the forward bend at the start, when I hear ‘touch your forehead on your calf muscles’ my forehead only touches my knees! – and even standing head to knee – I am still after 6 months – 4 times a week – I am still working on strengthening my leg enough to keep the knee locked for 60 seconds. I think my leg muscles are weak beause of my posture etc. Many thanks for any insights.

    Namaste

    Hi Jeanette

Your posture can completely and totally transform with this yoga. I am sure some pointers will get you moving in the right direction. And as in your other post it may be some techniques that could be fixed to help you.

Your strength can take some time to develop and as you say your posture probably plays a big part. Your muscles work in balance together. So at the moment you are working on redeveloping proper relationships between a number of muscles groups. Some are weak and others are strong but should be in better harmony than that which helped you create your ‘poor posture’.

First port of call would be to make sure you have visited the Free Videos section and watched the video right down the bottom of the page called “A Transformational Technique for Your Practice, For Your Life”. This is THE video I continue to receive hundreds of personal emails about since I released it 20 months ago, because of its power to transform your body and yes, your life!

Thanks Gebrielle – great video – you were talking about me with the rounded shoulders :). As always the trick will be to consciously “put my elbows in my back paokets” as it definately feels very odd at the moment. But great thank you!

I have a question, along with rounded shoulders the neck being forward, I am working hard at getting my neck back in line. Working at a computor I lean my head forward and am told that is how you devlelop like a little hump. When I am laying on the floor and we bring the knee up we are told chin down neck along the floor,
can you really get your neck to the floor?

Thank you for all your information. I am a newbie and will be doing my 6th straight day.

I have another question too, sort of connected to the rounded shoulders. Coupled with my non gorgeous round shoulders, I seem to bend forward from about 5 inches above the coccyx. Consequently, I have difficulty in the hands to feet pose (where I can just about get my head down to my knees and no where near my calfs as suggested and I certainly cannot get my knees back), standing seperate leg stretching pose, as I seem to be unable to bend forward forward from the coccyx. In the sit up, I am completely unable to do the final part when you come forward from the hips and same with the final part of head to knee pose with stretching pose. They are all connected to the inability to bend forward from the coccyx I believe! Any suggestions as to how I might inprove these apart fro the regular bikram yoga sessions?

    Many many thanks.

    Hi Jeannette

Okey dokey!!! I think I can direct you with 2 approaches. You can use the forum posts for each of these poses. There is plenty of information already here.

It may surprise you but there is a common thread in ALL the poses you mention! And I have already created Pose Tutorial DVDs that deal with the poses that you mention.

The volumes that could interest you are
    >> Pada Hastasana together with Standing Sep Leg Intense Stretch
    >> Sit-Up together with Intense Stretching pose.

These DVDs contain detailed information with complete discussions, step by step instructions and trouble shooting complete with hundreds of photo images. I designed them to have Practice Tips that you can recall so you can make sense of the poses and how they relate to the rest of the series.

I know this sounds like an advertisement. But there really is no other way to let you know about them!

So if you don’t find the details on the forum or you prefer not to search for it but to have something you can refer to where I walk you through the minute details then the DVDs are an option.

    Namaste
    Gabrielle 🙂
