My dear yoga friends,
I work as a chef and therefore do alot of running around on my feet all day… By the time i get to do a bikram class{usualy next day} i find it a real struggle to get through the 1st hour. I have done a lot of bike riding and lots of rollerbladeing,so have reasonably strong legs,
but by the time im into 15 min of poses i get real shakey legs.. (could be acid build up) What would be the best way to prepare myself to get through(pre-stretches) before class..? rolleyes Happy & Safe New Year to All… Mr Slim..

You are a very busy man. Lots of activity. And being a chef, who also does Bikram Yoga you are in the heat a lot!
I have 2 ideas for you. One is about checking on your electrolyte levels. Do you supplement your diet with electrolytes? There are great products available. And your level of activity would seem to warrant it. Many students remember to hydrate but may only use water so depletion may happen. Proper muscle firing relies on keeping healthy levels.
The other thing that I would consider is your strength. The series is fantastic (we know that! 😆 ) and although we have 90 minutes of exercise, we have rest between the poses which helps us to recover frequently throughout the class. Still many of us still need to work out how to pace ourselves to get right to the end. Of course I don’t know you or your practice but I have taught many, many people. Sometimes men (and occasionally women too) can muscle their way into poses. There is a balance of strength and flexibility that we all talk about in the room but there is also another: effort and surrender. We all have to back off sometimes to allow the body to open.
Eager to hear your thoughts…
Namaste
