it’s called emergen-c or effer-c they are a MUST to prevent many health risks when we sweat. picture a glass of water….. dump out half and re fill it w/ water. the result…? less salt!! the same thing happens with our bodies. if you only rehydrate w/ water you are at risk for a serious health problem.

    Hi looking for balance =),

I posted it a while back after becoming extremely dehydrated from too many days of yoga and double classes in a row. Below is the quoted text. Hope it works good for you too!!

“So I had a rough couple days do to fatigue from dehydration. Apparently water alone is not enough for Yogi’s practicing hot yoga more than once per day, i.e. practicing 6 days per week and also back-to-back classes. I conducted a little research and found a wonderful way to stay hydrated and replace all of the essential nutrients that water alone can not replenish. I made an elixir of Ultima Replenisher http://www.ultimareplenisher.com/ and Trace Mineral Drops. This stuff works very well and doesn’t taste all that bad, also it is vegan so it does not have an abundance of sugar or any high fructose corn syrup.

    P.S. – works miracles on a hangover too =)

    cheers!!”

the effer-c and emergen-c are what I have used in the past, thanks for the tip about the other product….. I did some research and talked to the health food people. we both thought what I was doing was the best to fit my needs as I am an avid athlete and the emergen-c has other properties that I need as well.

    Hi!

We don’t get Emergen-C here in Oz, but we have it sent out to us. It works for us and I have found it to be very affordable. The product referred to above seems very good. Dollar for dollar there is a significant difference between these products.

I guess it depends on where you are shopping for the items. I found several links using google to discounted online stores selling them both for competitive prices. 6 in one half a dozen the other =)

What do you think about the trace mineral drops though Gabrielle?

    Hello

I guess I didn’t shop around :cheese: We just have our friend send them! Thanks for the tip.

Anyway, trace minerals are a great idea. Especially these days where the quality of food that we ingest may no longer have all the minerals we need.

Actually here where we live, I get beautiful organic vegetables delivered which are MINERALLY REPLENISHED. Our guy has been organically enhancing the soil for a few years now to create a better quality soil and therefore a better quality produce. And the taste of his tomatoes and broccoli (and his other stuff) is so much more delicious than the regular organic stuff (which is not mineral replenished) that we can get elsewhere.

I don’t think Andrew delivers to the US though 😆

The Emergen-C flavored supplements DO work wonders – my studio highly recommends them. Also, if you can find smartwater give that a shot too. It’s electrolyte-enhanced, so you’ll get what your body needs during a workout.

Go here and they’ll send you a coupon to try it out.

    Looking for Balance?

The best balanced electrolyte replacement for Hot Yoga is Ultima Replenisher….hands down!!!!!
It has eight essential electrolytes that are all plant based (organic) minerals, easy for the body to absorb. It contains no sugar, it is naturally colored, flavored and sweetened….No Artificial ingredients. It is vegan friendly, Gluten free and has non-GMO, organic ingredients. Source matters….plant based electrolytes help us feel good! Organic minerals cost more but are better for the body to absorb.
    Their website is: http://www.ultimareplenisher.com

The other electrolyte replacements are made 99% from genetically modified corn, inorganic, mined minerals…..a gravel form of electrolytes(dirt) that are much harder for the body to absorb. The Vitamin C is ascorbic acid, a harsh from of Vitamin C. Potassium Bicarbonate (baking soda….mined mineral); Magnesium Hydroxide (Milk of Magnesia) mined mineral dug out of the ground. Inorganic minerals are cheap, but much harder for the body to absorb.

Which would you rather put into your body during Hot Yoga???

    Hi Pete02ob

Ah yes, you seem to have a favorite. You may want to do a little research and see what the other drinks have to offer. If you are doing lots of exercise and loads of sweating then you may need more than regular electrolyte replacement drinks like Gatorade can offer. While Gatorade replaces sodium and potassium there are other essentials that your body may need which are found in the other drinks recommended by other forum posters. It boils down to watching your diet and ensuring that you body is functioning well. Just check it out and see what you come up with.

I absolutely cannot drink Emergen-C due to the fizzy nature of it getting my acid reflux all riled up. So, after trying many different products, I have found one that is exellent. It is called Vitalye and the Cool Citrus flavor is very light and refreshing. It has worked wonders for me…no more post class muscle cramping. That or a Coconut water after class are both nice replenishing treats. 🙂
