Hello everyone, please let me know your own experiences about this topic.
After the yoga class I feel my stomach is swelling. It is uncomfortable and it feels like if i’ve just had a great meal which I haven’t. And some days, it hurts beneath my belly buttom. And other days, inbetween the ribs. I do think my stomach swells after a yoga class and it hurts sometimes.
I don’t know what to do, should I go to the doctor? When is this reaction going to stop? What does it mean? I eat salad after, sometimes I don’t eat because I don’t feel like, um… don’t eat junk food, I DON’T HAVE A BAD DIET so this is killing my patience. Does this STOP? Please help this desperate belly…
Hi there,
I wonder if your problem could be related to fluid. How much water do you drink before, during, and after class? It takes fluids awhile to get absorbed after drinking them, and I have felt pressure/discomfort in the abdomen if I drink too much too fast, or if the water is too cold. Do you think your problem could be related to fluid intake? If so, maybe switching your drinking pattern up throughout the day or changing what you are drinking might help? Have you ever tried not drinking during class?
I guess I could be drinking fast, because I get thirsty, even though I drink 1L before class, plain water, sometimes a cup of tea too… but the feeling is like i’ve eaten food. I won’t stop drinking during class but i’ll try to drink less. Even though I do feel my stomach has been blowed up for many days… maybe it is a desintoxication? or too much pressure is hurting my stomach?
although I have changed my eating schedule because of it sometimes NOT HUNGRY AT ALL, can spend many hours not eating and when i get hungry i eat less than before. Isn’t that bad? ok thank you so much for responding.
Hello Natalia
bunni has a point methinks!
To me it sounds as though a major change to your eating and drinking habits may have some bearing on what is happening.
With the written word and with little info it’s hard to get a real grasp on everything as you can well imagine. What I understand is that you eat well and avoid junk. At the moment you are perhaps not nourishing yourself in what one could say is a normal-for-you way.
I would like to know your level of electrolyte intake through food or supplementation.
I would also like to know if you drink (mostly vegetable) juices or green smoothies as part of your diet or if you are willing to consider making them a part.
It’s possible at the moment you need to develop new habits to go with your changing hunger patterns. Something that will support you.
So until I hear from you I can make a small suggestion: Keep drinking the small amounts more often. I agree, continue to drink during class at appropriate times. Perhaps in your water (especially during class and before) that you add a sprinkle of sea salt and you can choose to put in a few drops of lemon juice for flavour.
Just a quick point too. I am not prescribing anything here. Just making some suggestions based on what you have written. I think that at some stage, if things don’t improve in the short term (and they possibly could with addressing simple hydration and nourishment issues) then you really would be well advised to see a doctor. It’s handy to have an idea of how you fit into the range of values that are considered normal. If you come out with normal values then so much the better. It won’t have been a wasted exercise.
Get back to us! We’ll be here 😉
Namaste
