Hi fellow yogis,
I have a fairly sensitive stomach, and on the days when I go to 6 p.m. yoga (i.e., after work), I definitely try to eat a low-key lunch. Not too heavy, not too spicy, not too much fiber, etc.
Some days, this works, and I get through class fine. But other days, I have awful stomach issues–just feeling really gaseous and uncomfortable, with stomach cramps or lots of burping. (Kind of gross, I know, sorry!)
I doubt there’s a way to “cure” this, minus eating only plain pasta or rice for lunch, but I guess my question is: how do you handle an upset stomach during class, especially when the spine-strengthening series seems absolutely impossible??
Thanks! I’m always interested in other yogis’ insights.
Hannah
Hello Hannah
There really wasn’t any other way of saying that was there? 😆
I was wondering if you had any particular regime that you follow. For example I find using food combining principles is my best bet at comfort. I find that digestion is always quicker and easier and over a very short time you learn so much about your own body. My intuition about what I really need has become very strong.
I am sure that many on the forum (me included) can come up with some resources if you need help. There are thousands of books available.
Cheers
Gabrielle 🙂I have the same problem – nausea during the spine strengthening series – and I find it very helpful to make sure the stomach is contracted. imagine pulling the belly button up, and back toward the spine. I find this gives the stomach more support. Also avoid water before and during these postures! And always remember to breathe!
I have this problem too. It makes it almost impossible to do the floor postures. I find that i burp when I sit up for a moment and then the nausea is temporarily relieved only to come back again. I am working on finding the right way to eat, but I also think it might be a way of detoxing, I don’t know but I really want to fix it. Any other help from others would be great.
