Can these be purchased in a store?

Is it the MSM that helps with flexibility? I have some that I would like to use up before I make a purchase this product.

    jwinnv,

You can purchase these supplements at http://www.yogabodynaturals.com/

As for my experience, I did not notice any change taking these supplements.

What REALLY made a HUGE change in terms of flexibility during hot yoga class was my diet. There was a period of time when I deliberately wanted to lose weight and I eliminated all strachy products, all bread, rice, meat.. Basically what I was eating were vegetables, some oil, I was also drinking vibrant cleanse mix (maply syrup, lemon, cayenne pepper) + Yogi teas. And before this I was eating rice, sandwiches, comlicated salads with sweet dressings, cheese, desserts. etc. I could definitely report less strength during this period, but the change in flexibility was AMAZING. It was as if I all of a sudden was given a brand new body. May be after I experienced THAT change, I do not notice any tiny ones really…

Hi Jacky, the web site “yoganaturals” claim that MSM can imrprove flexibility and muscle regeneration, improve skin appearance, etc. But I didnt experience any improvement with a three month try of those supplements. There is no short cut, regular work and a diet includind lots of raw and green food is the key

    Hi Charlotte

I can’t comment about the specific MSM benefits… but I can certainly and wholeheartedly agree that there is NO substitute for “front loading” the right stuff: Good nutrition and water, plenty of rest too… Lots of raw and green food. Thank you! :cheese:

With most of ‘us’ having years, decades or a whole lifetime of poor nutrition behind us supplementation can be very important. I don’t know many people who have had organic, mostly raw diets for their entire lives who don’t need or haven’t needed to take something. Who knows how long it will take to reverse the stuff that’s happened to the body?

Lots do fall into the “taking supplements to make up for poor diet”. These days if we’re not eating organic and a great proportion of raw food then we really do need to supplement for the discrepancies! So much to choose from…

Do you take anything? I am curious!

Intriguing stuff. What are folks’ thoughts about his assertion that Yoga doesn’t create flexibility it only demonstrates it? While I understand his point that your flexibility will increase the most when you can stay in a pose longer than you usually can in a class setting, I have to credit Yoga for an increase in my own flexibility even with the ‘average holding time’. Aren’t there plenty of Yogis out there who have become super-flexible due in largest part to their Yoga practice? What did people do to gain flexibility before his miracle stretches? 🙂 🙂 Ok, now I’m being cheeky. He seems like a nice dude. I will give the MSM/Vitamin C combo a try and definitely keep Stretching…I love to stretch!

    Hi Helen

You gotta credit him with good marketing.

What Yoga does that gravity stretches WILL NEVER DO is employ certain EXTRA physiological stretch reflexes that go above and beyond the ones that are activated with so-called gravity stretching.

If you really want to stretch then do yoga. Do a combination of yin style stretches (hmmm… another style of gravity stretching 😉 ) and active poses such as hot yoga where the magic really happens.

The mechanisms are amazing and fascinating.

    IMHO yoga creates it better.

Yes, good marketing for sure…I might have believed him if I didn’t know any better! Haha!

I am definitely going to have to look into this Yin style Yoga. You mentioned it in another thread as well. Sounds like it might be enjoyable! So much to learn! I recently obtained a book called ‘Yoga Anatomy’ to study more deeply about the postures and what they do.

    Blessings!

    Hi Helen

Yin, gravity stretches or whatever you call ’em have their place. It’s all good!

As I have mentioned elsewhere, it feels great after a hot yoga class. It’s also good before – just feels different because of the warmth of the body prior to or post-activity.

    Have fun with your discoveries!

    Hi Hanif

Don’t apologise. I get it. It’s certainly untested. It’s only anecdotal responses from people (including me). Who knows what expectations I had and how the placebo effect could have played with my mind? Only proper clinical double blind study would prove or disprove the point. And then it would have to be an extremely well designed study. How can any study take in all the parameters including practice experience and the presence or absence of injury, one’s beliefs about food, supplements, and myriad other things? If one has an expectation that something is going to be really good and create a certain outcome sometimes (and not in every case – and that’s what makes life interesting) that outcome may occur. Or not. 😉

Nothing can substitute for great nutrition. And unless you can’t get something in any other way (in optimal amounts), as far as I understand it, it is always better to get your nutritional needs met through food rather than supplements.

    Thank you for your input.

    Namaste
