    Hi Chronic

I am lucky enough to practice on the Gold Coast in Australia, and our studio is right across the road from the beach so after class we get to go for a swim in the ocean. Pure heaven! It def feels like a great way to cleanse and re-vitalise.

LOL. Funny to think, when I first started practicing about a year ago, I thought I was “just going to a yoga class” 😉

    Hi Blue

I understand where you are coming from, with reference to “Newbies” leaving the room, as I have felt myself being frustrated by them, or the person standing next to you who is late in or out of every posture etc. :cheese:

I decided recently (after finding that the frustration wasn’t working for me!) that I needed to look at this as another challenge of my practice. I now look at it as a chance to improve my focus and stillness, and endeavour to not let anyone steal my peace.

I came over from Auckland for the seminar (about 10 from our studio did also). It was so great to meet him in person, hear him speak and do a class with him. Some of what he spoke about resignated so much with me, how to just “be” and to have awareness as we live our lives etc. And I loved the “junk body, crazy mind, lost soul” analogy 🙂

Like the others I found the “no food is good food” a bit hard to get my head around, and sorry boss I need my sleep! But the rest of what he says makes so much sense and he is an inspiration to be around. Def has got me thinking about TT!

    Hi

I generally practice at a 6 a.m. morning class 4-5 days a week and def recommend it as a fabulous way to start your day 🙂 (It also means there is less chance of missing a practice because of other commitments etc.)

I get up 45 mins before, and straight away drink several glasses of water and take some “Yogabody” supplements. I find that because its not as hot as the evening classes that I don’t feel dehydrated and often do the class without water.

Its amazing how much the heat changes your class and there are days when I find myself wishing it was hotter!

I can’t get as deep in some of the poses as I can in a night class, but it gives me a chance to concentrate more on the form and just being present etc.

By the time I get to work I feel ready to conquer the world! (Unfort I’m still waiting for the “needing less sleep” bit to kick in, as I find with the early morning starts I’m in bed very early at night?)

    Hi Superboy

There is a group of us coming over from the EastWest Bikram yoga studios in Auckland for his seminar. Really looking forward to meeting him in person!

in reply to: Water during class #3263

    Hi Raysantopietro

Great to read your thoughts about water and in particular about the mental addiction and our fight or flight response.

I’ve been thinking about it during class and now I try to stand between postures, focus on my own eyes and just breath. Amazing how something that sounds so simple can be so incredibly difficult to do at times! But what a feeling when you achieve it. 🙂 I’ve found it helped me become aware of any other fidgety habits I had too(wiping sweat, playing with my hair etc)and so I’ve been able to drop those also when I stay focused.

Love the champagne analogy too, and as I usually practice at a 6:30am class I now tell myself I get to have a “champagne breakfast” after each class. FAB!

Thanks again for your time to post a reply.

    Hi Gabrielle

Thank you so much for your wonderful in-depth reply. I have so much to think about now! Can’t wait to get back into class and observe my “water” reactions. I know I have places where I drink water as a matter of habit so look forward to the challenge of changing those.

Thanks again for your insight and advice. 🙂

in reply to: 30 Day Challenge #3113

Thanks very much for your response, Gabrielle. I really appreciate your advice and encouragement.

I will try and “just be” with my emotions rather than put so much effort into trying to figure them out! 🙂

Thanks too, Donna for your words of support. It is so great to have this forum as a place for open discussion and support.

    Stay bendy 🙂

    Hi Jacquie

I have had the same problem. I find the more regularly I practice I don’t get it, but if I miss a few days in a row and then go back to class my ears will often block up. Yes, its very frustrating so I would welcome anyone’s ideas on how to get rid of it too! 🙂
