in reply to: Smoothies vs Juicing #10323
Juicing is like fasting. It allows you to pump your body full of nutrition while still allowing your body to take a break from
digesting (because fiber is removed) and therefore allocate all its energy towards bodily housecleaning. Deep, hyper-house cleaning.
If you are don’t desire the deep, cellular level of detoxification that comes from juice cleansing, then most definitely–drink
lots of green smoothies. For many people coming off a very poor diet, drinking smoothies still has a certain level of a
cleansing effect and that’s why many programs with fiber/pulp are still named “cleanses.” They are. Just not nearly as deep
of ones as one experiences when on just juice.in reply to: Juice Fast? #10300My apologies Hot Yoga Doctor. I SWEAR I answered her question!
Many people juice feast for 92 days safely! I’ve gone as long as 10.
Keep this in mind when doing it specifically for weight loss.“Juice Feasting is not a weight loss program per se. While people do lose weight, this is a side effect of removing the toxic and extraneous matter from your system and achieving superior health. Now is the time when you can say “I am going to be fully responsible for creating the best health possible for myself!”
Juice Feasting Accomplishments
In essentially this order – although all of these items are occurring at once – the following is what we are achieving and addressing with Juice Feasting:1. Ending the addition of toxic/foreign/depleted foods into our bodies.
2. Drinking Nutrient Dense Living Juices with Superfoods/Supplements
3. Physiological Rest
4. Removing Uneliminated Waste Matter in Small Intestine and Colon
5. Hydration
6. Removing Uneliminated Toxins in the Blood, Lymph, and at the Cellular Level throughout the body
7. Alkalinization
8. Reduction/Eradication of Inflammation/Chronic Pain
9. Oxygenation
10. Rejuvenation of Metabolism and Digestive System
11. Restoration of Nutrients
12. Rebuildingin reply to: Back-Strengthening Exercises #10199Hi Blondiesorganic,

in reply to: Calves Cramping #10021Hi Jessika,
Any updates since you started taking the Calm Plus Calcium? I hope it was the Calm Plus Calcium that you purchased and not just the Calm. (Not that Calm isn’t beneficial), I use both but for cramping specifically, Calm plus calcium is what was recommended.
in reply to: What To Take To Class #9997Excellent! Great feedback. The sweating is PROFUSE and PROFOUND!! The powers that be (Google) ? were guiding you by connecting you to this website before you even did your first class. That’s awesome. You went in with most of your questions answered up front which allowed you to relax more than the usual newbie. Great foresight on your part.

in reply to: What To Take To Class #9989Mat,water and TOWEL or two if you plan on showering afterwards. No blocks. Drink as much water as you can tonight and before class tomorrow if you’re not already sleeping. (Not sure what part of the Country you’re in) Eat lightly throughout the day and avoid eating anything heavy, carbs, heavy spice etc. minimum of 3 preferably 4-5 hours before class. Green Smoothies encouraged as pre-practice meal. In this case 1 – 2 hours pre practice, ok.
How exciting for you! Beginning your HOT YOGA journey.
Have a great class.
Let us know “how you go”. 🙂

in reply to: Sensitive skin, sensitivity to heat #9973what happens when you sit in a dry or wet sauna? not that the hot room is the same as sitting in either one of the above mentioned, just curious.
in reply to: Fever After Hot Yoga – #9972I’ve wondered the same thing about myself because when I do catch a cold/fever, it seems to happen after I practice. This has happened to me 3x in the past 3 years. For what it is worth, my theory is: the “sickness” is already in the body, you made mention of “body harboring.” My take is: The yoga helps to bring out, detoxify or bring up whatever needs to come up for release. It’s a good thing.
Some food for thought. Just curious. On a scale of 1-10, looking at your past year, how stressful was it? Any MAJOR stuff happen? Overall, how was your diet? In general, have you been happy and optimistic or ? There are so many variables that could be attributed to the cause and not just the yoga. Thanks for sharing.

in reply to: Back-Strengthening Exercises #9969I’ve been doing the “ball” exercise every other day for about 6 weeks now and I’m noticing a Hugh difference in CORE and LOWER back strength! I’m even noticing some definition (muscle tone) in the Transverse Abdominal region. Me likey! 🙂
in reply to: Juice Fast? #9968Thanks for the sticky mat clarification. I like it. 🙂
The minimum amount of time for a safe, effective fast is 7 days. Why? It takes about 2-3 days for the body to get the message that it needs to start breaking down the old cells (Technical term for this, Autolysis) that aren’t any good and start rebuilding. During this time you may not feel so good detoxing the old. Then as body starts rebuilding, you start to feel better. If you stop when you’re in the middle of breaking down the old and healing crisis is taking place then it misses the point of the fast cause that’s why you’re doing it in the first place.
It’s not that a one, two or three day fast isn’t safe, it just depends on why you’re doing the fast. I fast more for spiritual cleansing, emotional detoxing etc. rather than weight loss. Don’t get me wrong the weight loss is a HUGH bonus but not the motivation.

have consistant energy and emotional stability throughout the day?in reply to: Heart beating hard in floor bow #9948Hi Amelia. Well, it is obvious that Dhanurasana, floor bow triggers anxiety for you and it begins as you anticipate the set up. I’m wondering if you can become aware of whether or not you stop breathing as you anticipate the pose? I’m sure you’ve heard of Vipassana Meditation. It is a way of transformation through self observation. I invite you to approach your posture next time as if you were just the witness to what ever happens. Don’t try to change anything about it just yet, just meet your feelings, your anxiety, whatever comes up for you as a witness to it and completely accept what’s happening. Did that make sense? If nothing else practicing this technique could reveal deeper, unconscious negative energies or self judgements that you’re harboring around this pose that you are not yet aware of. And of course, relax. Also try entering on an EXHALE after you’ve taken a BIG inhale. Hang in there. One day this will be the pose you LOVE the most!

in reply to: Juice Fast? #9943Hi Jessika.
Your question in asking how a juice fast will affect your practice and energy level is difficult to answer without knowing anything about your current diet, habits, background. One thing is for sure, when you do something, you GO FULL THROTTLE!! Practicing for 6 weeks, 6 days a week, some doubles! :ahhh: And now starting a juice fast..:bug: As you know, yoga is much more than the postures. Yoga is about AWARENESS. The more experienced we are in our practices, the more awareness we have in our postures. We become aware of each postures’ traction lines, how to set those traction lines up safely, knowing which muscles to contract and which to relax. We are aware every moment of our breath, doing our best to never let it get away from us which is how we work our edge. My motto, breath not brahn. This being said, as a yogini yourself, approach your juice fast with mindful awareness to check into how your physical energy is affected by it, how your practice is affected by it etc. You have nothing to prove and everything to DISCOVER! If you’re detoxing too quickly, slow the fast down. Dilute the juice with purified water. Or stop practicing so much. And if you need something warm, make a delicious warm, savory soup in your blender. Gabrielle has a great book out right now GREEN SMOOTHIE MAGIC available on Amazon that could assist you in your fast for those days that you’re feeling it’s ok to have a smoothie if you need more BODY in the diet because energy level is low. I’m excited for your discovery during your juice fast. Here’s something I know FOR SURE about Juice Fasting. It will certainly CLEAR any lingering negative energies that your practice hasn’t accessed yet and facilitate the dropping of these energies from your being.
in reply to: Calves Cramping #9937Hi, check this product out. I purchased it looking for a solution to the very problem you’re having with cramping. It WORKS! And here’s why.
Athletes put their bodies under intense stress. Strenuous exercising and sweating (due to exertion and high temperatures) cause the body to lose magnesium. Many athletes are deficient in both calcium and magnesium.
Magnesium is also essential in addressing an issue common to almost all athletes-muscle cramping. When cramping occurs in workouts or competition, it is a sign of low magnesium levels. Natural Calm Plus Calcium balances a highly soluble and bioavailable form of calcium with Natural Calm-the best-selling, award-winning magnesium supplement-plus vitamins and minerals, so that the calcium you take will be fully utilized and you will have healthy magnesium levels. Magnesium won’t be depleted by calcium and there will not be a buildup of unabsorbed calcium.
Natural Calm Plus Calcium. Available on amazon.
Love the reference to Rabbit exit Bunni. I’m looking at my Hot Yoga Masterclass Book now to see what the Master, Ms. Gabrielle has to say about it.Every question we have – the answer – can be found there! Namaste!
Try this: Before you begin the exit, stabilize yourself by bringing your hands to the sides of your extended foot to Steady yourself. After that make sure the back leg is completely locked out, heel flat and weight distributed equally on both feet. Square your hips again and then from a stable base, Then squeeze your head with your arms, elbows locked, chin tucked, hands in prayer – begin to slowly come out keeping the front hip forward and chin tucked the whole way up. Oh yea and of course, USE YOUR CORE. 🙂
in reply to: Runny nose – Am I the only one? #9910Nope. You’re not the only one Heather. My nose runs as well and so do other students in my classes. I happen to “think” it is diet related but it would be next to impossible to pinpoint what it is exactly in the diet that’s causing it unless you are interested in becoming your own lab experiment like I’m thinking of doing on myself by eliminating the habituary, (is that a word) foods you eat and liquids you drink every day one by one to see if the runny nose stops. When and if it does you can then start adding back in one by one the eliminated items to see what causes it to start running again. Perhaps a food allergy of some kind might reveal itself? This method seems more intriguing to me then spending $200 on an allergy food test.
