Thanks Gals! The video is great.

My feet pretty much start aching before i get out of bed.

I have tried something that helps: ‘yoga toes’. The are like the thingys they put between your toes when you get a pedicure, but are almost like a casing that goes around each toe and separates them A LOT!

My feet feel sooooo good when i take them off, and the daily aching is disappears right when i put them on, however, it is only temporary.

I’ll practice walking correctly, as suggested in video.

Any other suggestions would be great; as i said, the pain starts right around the second set of breathing, the first pose!!

    Hi gabrielle,
Sorry. I was a little vauge. So, instead of pressing my arms to my ears I have my arms slightly forward. They are straight, palms together, just not pointing straight up, but slightly forward. The tightness in my neck and choking in throat comes when my arms are straight up agaist my ears. I did what you said in earlier post and released my shoulders and let scapula slide down my back and that helped enormously as I realized some of the choking came from my shoulders being up around my ears too!! I still find it hard to breathe however in this pose.

I had another question for you : have you ever had anyone complain about sore feet? Ever since my first class, by the second standing pose my feet are killing me! Sometimes they cramp but mainly just ache right until the end of standing poses. I do have high arches. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Thanks again. Your feedback is priceless :cheese:

Thanks for the lovely compliment 🙂

Yes, it is instructed to ‘grab’ the wrist. I had also done this in a physio class after my accident to stretch the area.

And yes, we alternate to the other side. So we grab the right wrist when bending to the left and visa versa. What I do find is it is much easier and don’t get that abdominal workout to the degree of the correct posture. However, it is where I am at and don’t want to have to dread half moon during this healing process.

I am scared to do this in a bikrams class though :gulp: but i will maybe let the instructor know before hand so she doesnt try to correct it in class.

Thanks again for your feedback. It is VERY helpful. 🙂

    Take care and Happy Holidays!

    Thanks Gabrielle,

I had a new experience today regarding half moon. I was at a ‘hot yoga’ class, not Bikrams, and in half moon they had us grab our wrists instead of straight arms and palms together. It felt MUCH BETTER, and this may have been because it was actually ‘doable’ for me with this injury, but what do you think about this type of form in half moon? 8-/

I feel your pain….but in my neck! I have no problems getting my hands clasped, but once there, and hearing over and over “press your arms to your ears” it just hurts . I feel like I can’t breath and just want it to end! What am i doing wrong?

Both of your descriptions sound correct. I am in Canada and know the sources here 😉 as I worked in the industry for many years.

Good luck and definitely give it a try! It feels great and will also work your core and legs while getting this wonderful self massage. :cheese:

    Hi Silver,

Does the overball have some give? If so, it sounds similar to something we used as personal trainers in the 90’s to do deep tissue massage. It was about as big as a large canteloupe and was rubber. The person (you) can actually massage out knots and such by rolling the sore area over the ball. You may have heard of people do this with tennis balls and even golf balls , but I found that is for the extremely pain tolerrent induvidual.

Anyways, just wondering about the ball as I have been looking for something like that to work out some muscle ‘bumps’ of my own.

    Take care 🙂

in reply to: 'sort of' Bikrams #3744

    Yes I heard about that.

At my ‘old’ studio they explained it this way: you had to train under Bikram and adhere to his studio rules: carpet, temperature, sequence etc., to use the Bikram name, but no, it is not a francise: Bikram does not benefit from a studio licensed under him. However, in the same vain I hear his training is not cheap!

I am looking forward to trying new things right now. This change was exactly what I needed!

Thank you Gabrielle for reminding me that I am my own boss and as long as I am ok with it then it is ok! 😉

    Hi Gabrielle,

Thanks for your input. 😉 I always look forward to your posts.

Actually, I went to one of the ‘sort of’ classes today! Beautiful bamboo floor and an infared sauna as an after class treat. It was incredible. The class was only an hour (they offer both 60 and 90 min) ; the room was 40c and all was well. What also grabbed my interest is they have a variety of classes. Vinyasa flow, Hatha, Ashtanga, and Iyengar, and the pass works at all 5 of their studios.

So, am I going back to smelly carpet? Not for the time being. A girlfriend swears her teenage son caught a bronchial virus at my old studio. Hopefully they will think about their cleanliness habits.

Does a 30 challenge mean 30 days of hotyoga or, 30 days of yoga?

    Hi,

I am new to the hot yoga thing and have a question:

Does missing a class become a stressful event for the dedicated? I am hearing so much about this practice being so good for stress levels, body, mind and soul, but also hearing about NEEDING to go.

Can someone define all this for me?

I have always been an outdoor junkie, and do get somewhat of an ‘itch’ if I don’t hike for a week, but I never feel guilty or stressed about it.

Anyways, just a question for the super dedicated yogis 🙂

    Namaste

    Hi Gabrielle,

Thanks for your comment. I will try to go three days a week. I have a lot of activities in my life, including two girls (im a single parent)

However, winter is looming so weekday hikes and kayaking trips will likely come to an end.

Is 2-3 times a week enough? Also, would you recommend doing them consecutively, or space them out during the week?

    Thanks
