congrats! i’m a newbie too and find that i can do most poses easily and am very flexible as well. maybe you have had neck and back problems because of simple muscle tightness due to stress? I know when I’m stressed i tend to tense up and not really relax all the way. If so, I guess yoga will help with that!
thanks! I’ll try that today and see if it works
Just wanted to say how inspiring it is for people to be so dedicated and excited about all this. I just started doing bikram about a week and a half ago and have already noticed major changes in my body, both the way it looks and how I feel. I’m starting this week with the intention of attending yoga 6 days a week for 2 months. It’s something I made up in my mind already but I wanted to get it out there to the universe, hopefully so it will be easier to get past any hard parts or challenges.
I have definitely been focusing on only kicking my legs back and letting my arms get pulled back by my legs (rather than pulling my legs with my arms). I don’t really feel like my legs are that far apart or that I’m pushing too hard, but I did notice that my knees are wider apart than the dialogue says they should be. I will try what you said about keeping them parallel today in class and let you know what happens! Thanks!
