Hello…
Not quite sure if Amazon.com ships to Australia. But they do carry coconut water various brands. Have you check with some health food stores? In the past, I did purchase some coconut water thru my hot yoga studio but later I discovered a good substitute for coconut water which is Kiwi. For 2 kiwis, you will get 450 mg Potassium,4 gr Dietary fiber, Vit.A, C,E, B6, Calcium, Iron, Folic Acid, Magnesium, Copper and Manganese.
in reply to: Hydrating before the class. #7711Hi Mtadams…
Thru my experience, I found these below tips helps with my exercise with hot yoga.
– Drink moderate sized portions (one or two 8 ounce glasses) of water spread over the course of the day, rather than trying to drink six or eight glasses in one sitting. When you drink large quantities of water at one time, you stimulate the body to rid itself of water. Also trying to drink lots of water prior your classes can make you feel bloated and sick at your stomach.
– Try not to drink coffee, tea, hot chocolate (caffeinated drinks), it caused your body to realise water (dehydrated your body).
– Also avoid eating spicy food.
– As you come more often to the classes, you will find that there are certain spots in the studio that are hotter than the rest. I found positioned myself in the middle row under the ceiling fans help couping with the heat and humidity. Eventhough, sometimes the teacher just turn the ceiling fans on for one or two minutes.
in reply to: Gluteus medius. #7704Hi Gabrielle,
I now realized that my posture and gait have been incorrect for years. I am trying to correct muscle imbalances and weak muscle by using PNF. The hot yoga is good for identifying areas of weakness and reveals my problems with my gait and posture. I now realize that it could take several years to correct my problems. Thanks for your comments.
I know that streching is important for a proper development of muscle strength but I see inconsistences in philosophy for strecthing soft tissue. Do you believe you can actually stretch a semi-contracted muscle? What do you think is the best method for lengthening muscles? Also I am wondering what is the best way to treat the knots in my muscle especially the deep muscle like the gluteus medius?
