in reply to: Burning sensation on the skin at the elbow. #7717
Hi Gabrielle,
In the modified pose, my hip and shoulder are open up and push upward. Similar to camel pose. My butt is in the air, not touching the floor. Looks exactly like the link below, but instead of looking up like in the picture, I lower my head and look behind me.

My elbows are resting on the towel on top of the mat. It feels like sun burn every time.
Hi Gabrielle,
Most of the time I can lower the thigh to almost 90 degree. The front has more weight than the back leg. I think the back leg is for support only. I try to have my back straight at the center as much as possible before moving the hand.
I just finished class at my regular studio. No slippage at all.
in reply to: YogaBody supplement really works #7646Boonie or other Canadians,
Does YogaBody ship from US? Is there duty charges? How much is shipping to a Canadian address?
in reply to: Stomach In? #7645I always forget to suck my stomach in while doing standing poses. It is hard to remember when I am trying to balance myself.
in reply to: Mat Recommendation #7644The bikram yoga studio I go to use this mat.

I recently have difficulty doing this pose. My lower right leg (the back side) feels very tight and it hurts. Left leg is fine. Does anyone knows why? I never have the tightness feeling before. Even though I still can’t grab my heel from the outside, I am able to hold the outside of the feet. I don’t have injury.
in reply to: Toilet Etiquette? #7432I have a few occassions that I need to go also.. but I was able to hold it til the end. But that feeling of holding and not able to go is uneasy. Maybe different gender can hold it better than other? I feel bad leaving the room.
in reply to: Balancing in Standing Bow. #7431Hi Jeff
Please tell me where you hold your left leg. Around the ankle or around the foot? If it’s around the foot, where exactly?
Namaste
Gabrielle 🙂
Hi Gabrielle,I hold it very close to the left ankle, just like the right side. I wonder if I should hold very close to the toe instead..
in reply to: Six months of hot yoga and still feeling stiff ? #7352I have been practicing hot yoga since Nov 09 twice a week. I am still not flexible. I can’t do the second and third of standing head to knee and some other poses. I wonder if yogabody helps in that regard..
in reply to: Calories Burned in a Hot Yoga class #7157Robert,
What formula do you use in your calorie calculator? Is it all based on estimation? Based on the calculator, I am able to burn 1055 calories in a 90 min bikram yoga. If that is true, I will try to do more often than two times a week.
in reply to: Balancing in Standing Bow. #7142Hi Gabrielle,
No, the foot in the air. When I kick my left leg up, my pinky toe spread out. I notice it on the front mirror. It is just plain awkward and ugly for the left bow. The right leg kicks out nicely with no toe spread.
in reply to: Difference between Bikram and Hot Yoga? #7094I also found another form of hot yoga called Moksha yoga. Some of the poses look similiar to bikram yoga, with different name.
Here are some video on different poses.
in reply to: Balancing in Standing Bow. #7084I have a question regarding the kicking motion of the posture. I find that I have no problem kicking my right leg up on the center of my head while maintaining balance. I think I do it “perfectly”. I can see my toes on my head. The left leg is a different story. For whatever reason I can’t kick it up to the center. It is not even above my head and is always tilted to the right and lose my balance. My toes are spreaded. It just looks awkward and ugly on the left leg. Why is that?
in reply to: What to eat after a later yoga class #7074Thanks Gabrielle. I thought I would ask because I always have a few pack of these in my trunk just in case I feel hungry on the road. Also I tend not to consume anything in the morning and then go to yoga in the afternoon. I feel tired and hungry after yoga.
in reply to: What to eat after a later yoga class #7072What about a bottle of Ensure? For those don’t know what Ensure is.. it is a meal replacement drink.
in reply to: Bikram frequency #7055I too am going only twice a week (saturday and sunday) and stat holiday. Do I want to go more often? Sure, but it is just impossible. It is too far for me to travel. I have other committment too. But there is a 30 day challenge coming up in June. I would love to participle. I’ll need to miss 1.5 hour work everyday which my boss will not like.
in reply to: Yogabody supplements #6916Thanks Gabrielle.
I realize that it is only available on their website. I try not to buy stuff like that online to ship on shipping. It is quite expensive actually so I want to find another place that carries it.
So Yogabody doesn’t provide the water that you need? I know I still need to drink water before and during class.
in reply to: Washing Yoga clothing everyday? #6914I wash it right after each class during shower in the studio.
in reply to: Yogabody supplements #6913My ultima replenisher is about to run out and I love to try Yogabody. Anyone know where it can be purchased in Canada?
in reply to: Bikram Yoga is Not Good for Everyone #6813Well, I don’t know if my recent chest injury (sprained a muscle or tore a ligiment) is related to this bikram yoga. Maybe I got weaken from Full Locust or Floor Bow? I was just trying to push a 127 lb box on the box and suddenly heard a popping/cracking sound. Doctor said it is a muscle pull or something.
in reply to: March 30-day challenge #6807Congrat Boonie. What do you mean by “another year has passed”?
I can’t wait to go back to class but I am not 100% yet..
in reply to: How hot is it??!! #6769Hi Boonie. So it is true? I never know or notice it until Dyln mentions to the class. Well, I now aviod the left side because I don’t like people looking into the studio through the window. I will have to try the left side again but I can’t go to yoga for a while.. 🙁
in reply to: How hot is it??!! #6755One of the instructor in my studio claims that one side of the studio is hotter than the other side. This is the studio I go to.
in reply to: chest pain #6740Thanks Amy.
I asked my instruction and he also said it might be a muscle/issue injury. He also mentions that this is a possibility that it is a rib popped out of position.
