    Hi Gabrielle,

Thank you for your reply. Initially, before visiting a studio I was relaxing my belly. But for a while I had been going to a studio and I was always asked to suck my stomach in. So currently, I do try to suck in my stomach during the inhales. Should I relax the belly then? It is a bit confusing!

    Thanks again,

    Liliana

    Hi Gabrielle!!

I can’t believe it has been 2 months since I posted my message!! I have been busy, but still doing my yoga (but without the heat and not the full series.

Re: Neck pressure: You are absolutely right; it is when I try to get my forehead on the floor. How do I know if I am entering the pose correctly?

    Thanks!!

I mean when I come up I flex my knees so I can reach my toes. I think my back is straight…

I guess some of the difficulty I have grabbing my big toes is because I feel my breasts get on the way. That’s why I sometimes wonder about holding on to something else like the ankles or something.

when you say separating the feet and knees, should I keep my arms in the middle or besides my legs?

    thank you!

in reply to: Proper situp form #8722

For the first time in my life, I have found a safe way of doing sit ups. Gabrielle’s way makes it “easy” to come up without feeling I am straining my back or my neck or my pelvic floor. Never thought I would ever say I enjoy doing a sit up!!

    Thanks Gabrielle!

    Hi Gabrielle,

Separating the knees does help a bit however, I’ve been noticing that at the end of the sit up I can keep my back straight. The problem begins when I grab on to the big toes. Not sure what is going on. Just wondering if I could grab on to my toes as I come up on my sit up? or maybe I can hold on to my shins… that seems doable for me. Not sure if any of this modifications would compromise the pose.

    Thanks a bunch!

    Hello all,

I have some issues keeping my back straight too. This is actually quite embarrassing… It doesn’t matter how much I bend my legs, I can not touch my toes without rounding my shoulders… I have tried to sit better on my sit bones but still, the lengthening ain’t happening for me.

I have been wondering if there is an alternate way to do this until I further open my chest. I have accomplished a good opening on my shoulders (thanks to standing bow and camel:))and my hips (thanks to triangle, fixed firm and tree). My chest still quite closed. Although it opens nicely during camel, when I get to the intense stretch I am reminded of how tight my upper chest is.

Any thoughts on how to treat this?

    Thanks!!

in reply to: Sore throat #8663

Well, I used to get bad throat infections when I was a teen. The only relation I see between the throat infection I recently had with rabbit pose, is that the compression in the throat during the pose actually squeezed out whatever bug I had been hosting in my tonsils. Yikes! :red::question:

    Hi Gabrielle,

I do feel resistance to the upward movement. I try to get my thighs vertical to the floor by lifting up the hips but it feels as if I did not have enough strength to lift up my lower body 🙄

Thank you very much for helping me with this.

All the best to you in Costa Rica!!

    Hi Gabrielle,

My knee is bent up, about4 inches from the floor. I get my forhead on the knee before griping the foot. I feel quite a bit of resistance on my torso as I turn to the side before going down. I wonder if that is part of the problem….

    Thanks!!

    Hi Gabrielle,

I have my 10 fingers around the ball of my foot. ANd I am pushing my heel forward. I have quite a bit of restriction on my torso when I go down: worse on the inner-side. I do bend my leg to get the forhead on the knee. But, when I push my heel out it hurts… maybe I am pushing it down??

    Not sure..

in reply to: Sore throat #8488

    Hi Gabrielle,

I am sorry it has taken me so long to reply. Re: sore throat, I ended up having a throat swab and found out I had strep-throat :red:. I had antibiotics for a while and I am feeling well now.

Re: rabbit, I don’t think I was worried about getting the sore throat when entering the pose. I think it was just a coincindence.

I did review carefully on my HYMC the section on common problems and how to fix them AND: I realized that because I have a very flexible C spine (and a very flexible L spine with a terribly stiff T-spine:-S), I should be placing my head a little bir away from my knees. I’ve been doing that for the last week or so, and I finally feel the work on my lower back instead of pressure on my head and neck.

Is there anything I need to do here? I can’t seem to be able to bring my heels together, but I am not sure how significant that is.. It has become a pose I look forward to, specially since it comes right after Camel.

    Let me know please 🙂

As always, I am very thankful for your help and direction.

    LOVE YA!

    Thanks Robert,

I will then stay on stage 2, still resting on my elbows while I work on my knees. Although, I should say that I don’t feel restriction on my knees on this pose.. the resistance is coming from the innerthigh. The stretch is quite satisfying even if I go to stage3, but the knees still want to come off the floor.

I can try that! thanks Gabrielle:) By the way, have you ever seen tight lats regain their flexibility? or will they just improve a little bit? I am asking because those tight lats of mine make difficult lots of the poses…and I feel sometimes that will not change:(

in reply to: My hovering knee #8300

    HI Gabrielle,

The problem comes exactly as I try to even out my knees by bringing the bent knee backwards while keeping my foot as close as I can to the middle line. My hovering knee is forward about 1 1/2 inches when I am standing on the left leg, and a little bit more when I stand on the other one. Naturally my hips will tilt backwards (which I’m sure has to do lots with my far less than ideal core strength), but I actively draw them up and forward as I tuck my tailbone under. Does that make any sense at all??

Perhaps I should let my foot slide down or something? not sure.

Looking forward to your suggestions 🙂

    Thank you,

    Liliana

I will try that. I’ll try an inch or two in between and then let you know!
    Thanks Gabrielle:)

I have finally begun to feel my lats are streching up a bit! So, I am able to bring my elbows somehow above my ears while keeping my shoulders down.

I now feel some resistance at the base of my fingers. Is that normal? how can I improve that?

    Thank you 🙂

How is the sea salt to be used and what kind of benefit does it provide to the nursing woman?

Thank you very much for your suggestion! Do I do this when I do Pranayama, or do I do it as a separate exercise?
    Thanks again!!
