Thanks a million Gabrielle!!
I know, I’m being silly and wasteful by heating my whole home…..I will look into infrared heaters. I guess the smallest one would work just fine. All the best to you!in reply to: Single Set / Double Set #11185Thanks Gabrielle, as always you are so helpful.
RE: the heat, I really don’t have a room that I can dedicate strictly to ‘hot yoga’, and my bathrooms are too small. I just turn up the thermostat for a short while. I guess I could get a heater to put in the room but then I have the humidity issue. I just go into the poses very slowly and don’t go past my limit. I have noticed that after about a week and a half of daily practice that I have progressed and can go a little deeper into the poses than when I first started. Where I live we get incredibly hot summers so I look forward to practicing on my balcony….but then again it’s a dry heat. I just can’t win…
in reply to: Breathing Exercises #6868Probably more mental. If I am doing a home practice I don’t want to run into obstacles if I don’t do them properly. The rest of the postures I can exercise a level of control because I know when I have reached my limit in the posture. The breathing I can’t control as easily. I guess if there were no long term repercussions in case there were ever any “reactions” with the breathing exercises then I would be fine with them. Des this make sense or am i being extremely weird/paranoid about it all?
in reply to: Breathing Exercises #6865Thank you for your reply. I wanted to ask one other question. Would it be possible to do the whole yoga routine without the breathing exercises if one wasn’t up to doing them on a particular day? Or, would the whole routine be futile without them?
Thanks again!
in reply to: Breathing Exercises #6862I’m not sure exactly which types of breathing exercises…..I don’t know too much about different breathing exercises in yoga so thought I would ask to be sure. I guess some are very intense and I wasn’t sure if the two in hot yoga fell into the same category.
in reply to: Elbows In Your Back Pocket #6622Thanks to everyone….very helpful advice!!

in reply to: Hot Yoga when you're sick? #6412Kim/Gabrielle,
I do hot yoga at home. I also read Bikram’s tips on how to practice with a cold/flu. Do you still include the Pranayama and Kapalbhati breathing exercises with the standing poses? Thanks. Sandrain reply to: Rabbit Pose #6379Yes, my toes through to my knees touch and feet are on the floor and yes, I have difficulty lifting my hips so my legs are more at a right angle. The top of my head is touching the floor. Thanks for helping!
in reply to: Rabbit Pose #6377Hi Gabrielle,
Sorry, I thought I had explained myself…sometimes I find it difficult to express in words my experiences in the poses. Yes, it is indeed Rabbit Pose that I cannot quite grasp. I can bring my head forward almost near my knees but have difficulty lifting my behind so that I am on my knees. Is there a modification that I can do and in time hopefully I will eventually get the hang of doing the pose properly (or can any other pose take its place)? Thank you! -
