You’ll get a T-shirt? I can’t get my studio to participate in a challenge at all. The owner says she loses too many people after 30 days. Although I’ve been at the same studio for eight years and have never seen any challenges going at any time. Real bummer.

Why not quietly do your own personal challenge? I’ve done challenges both as part of the group at the studio and also just picked a day to start and done it myself. Benefits and differences to each.

    Take Care,

I think part of a challenge is Not Doing it Quietly.

There is something about going in and out of there everyday and toward the end doing a countdown with the owner or instructor or receptionist. Sometimes it is nice to hear the instructor mention to the other students that you’re on day 25 or whatever . .

    Anyway, tonight I FINISHED!
but are we ever really finished. No we can always do more, stretch further, lift higher !

So, 2 days off for me, and I will be back after a brief rest!

From what I understand the owner lost lots of folks after a challenge about a year ago.
It is really weird how that happens. I guess folks are intent on finishing something and get it done.
But that is not what yoga is, and for me I see now what a day-to-day practice is and what it can do for you.
Increases the meditative nature of the practice, pushed me beyond what I thought I could do.

I hope you are able to convince the owner there to do a challenge, be it 20, 24, or 30 days. Sometimes the shorter time-frames are good to!

yes, I tried spacing it out a bit (going the morning and then the next day in the evening). It has helped.
    Doing much better.
Big prize at the end is satisfaction and a t-shirt!

I am now on day 21 of the 30 days challenge. So after the first 10 days I noticed more stamina. Now at day 20 or so I feel much more flexible. My hope is to gain more strength in the next 10 days to end the challenge at day 30 stronger. I gotta think that up to this point I am tired and have less strength, at least that is my excuse.

hi rumrunner, the class is always for beginners, even for folks who’ve been practicing for quite some time. Although the postures are the same each time, your body is different everyday. So that’s what I think about it being for beginners.

I think you might find comfort in the class. Nothing is expected of you except to listen to the instructor and do the postures. There might be something good in that for you. The predictability of the class.
It’s a wonderful way to take care of yourself with the detoxification, encouragement to drink water, and the group dynamic of postures that are done individually.

i hope you find your peace. xxoxo

I suggest lots of liquids, tea, water and such.
Proceed with caution when you’re back in there!

Yes, there are lots and lots of things you can do.
Different focuses: focus an entire class on the breath, focus on the listening skills and only do what you hear, focus on not fidgeting, focus on keeping your eyes on your eyes in the mirror, consciously drink at different times, try a double class, sign up for a private class, read your Bikram book and make applications in your practice where necessary, do your own 20 or 30 day challenge. I’ve got lots more, but this should get you started.

I am on day 10 of a 30 day challenge. I am enjoying it so far. Except for the fact that my body hurts. It’s starting to get tired. Specifically the front side of the body. I suppose this means that I have to get my backside stronger? , To support the frontside.

Getting lots of rest too, like I said I am enjoying the practice each day and especially seeing other enthusiastic folks each day. Also, trying practice at different times depending on my schedule has been interesting as well.

^^^ I usually breathe out all the air to make space, as I go down with my legs bent. . . .

I experience problems in rabbit. Meaning I can not breath and I am annoyed at the posture in general.
I think to people get panicky feelings with camel sometimes.

Probably the best remedy is to just go to practice often, and practice keeping calm. I also think that you are to drop the head down and let it hang. Don’t crunch it. Also best to keep all facial muscles relaxed.

I was a runner for 24 years. At the age of 38, lots of folks in my running club were getting injured (they were in their late 40’s early 50’s)., so I took myself to a Bikram class to do some flexibility work and avoid what the others were going through.

That was over 2 years ago, and I have not run since. Bikram is where it’s at for me now.

This is what I would suggest. Just for 30 days. Please only do Bikram. your body needs this right now. All those postures you can not do right now, you will be able to do so and your body will be the better for it- and it will thank you. Your breathing will help you inot the postures, but overall , I beleive the Bikram series will complete the cardio and the strength training as well.

I understand if you still want to do the other workouts. But like I said, for the next 30 days, Bikram everyday? You will love iit.
