Oh, yeah, and if anyone has pictures of people doing yoga on ice rinks barefoot I sure would love to see them. Brrrrrr! Chalk that one up to a bit of folklore methinks. 😆 At least we all understand the message.

It was simply something he mentions at teacher training.

    No harm done!

(Waiting for my non-stick towel order to arrive! At the moment I rent a towel from the studio, but it’s too short for Triangle, and I come very close to slipping…)

Bikram says you should be able to do Triangle on an ice rink.

If you are slipping you need to concentrate on grounding your feet more and pulling the ankles together, if that makes sense!

We all used to slip when we first started but less so once you get the hang of it you won’t need to buy special towels, move them around or otherwise shift your focus from the job in hand.

I have stuff from speedo & zoggi and only buy online!

I find it an absurd concept of fighting through the masses after paying extortionate parking costs or schlepping on overcrowded trains to get thereto when I can make my purchase in only a couple of clicks!

But my priorities are on yoga not shopping so hey go figure! 😀

Ugh. That is true that you should not try to shove your chin onto your shoulder. As the original poster now probably knows since she has been to training… that’s why the dialogue does NOT say chin to shoulder. It is shoulder to chin. Stretch forward to the mirror, try to touch the mirror, TRY to touch your SHOULDER to you CHIN. In other words, opening the shoulders. Pretty straightforward.

I really hate it when people throw away the entire dialogue thinking it is “incorrect” just because they haven’t ever bothered to learn it correctly. What is this? Laziness (not wanting to study the dialogue), ignorance (never being taught about the dialogue correctly), or just arrogance (thinking they can do it better)? It is all in there already. Bikram knew exactly what he was doing. I don’t understand why people throw it away.

Yes… I do have some very strong feelings about this.

Yup, Mr. Choudhury knows his biscuits alright!

Never mind, none of us are perfect, but we can only keep trying!

This will subside once you continue to practice more and more.

Just listen to your body and back off where you can.

Every day is different because of so many factors.

I’ve been practicing practially every day for months and still get excited to know what kind of practice I’m going to have.

Whilst I enjoy the breakthrough classes, I simply observe those with lower energy and promise to have a nice big chocolate hemp mylk with oodles of raw honey when I get home!

    in reply to: doubles #5825

I do doubles at least once a week.

Sometimes they are consecutive sometimes it’s the first and last(ish) of the day.

I am ALWAYS fully hydrated. It’s just hell not to be when you’re practicing every day! It’s easier to practice every day than take a break and lose the momentum!

The water I drink during class consists of 1/2 litre of coconut water with the other litre mixed with half an aloe leaf.

I always practice on an empty stomach in the morning so my energy is always directed to my practice instead of faffing about with digesting food – what a waste!

I have long hair (just past shoulder length) I am bouncing between a french/scalp plait turned under at the nape and put in a bun.

That way I don’t have to remove my “bikram bun” from the top of my head for rabbit pose.

I am just wondering what people wear during their hot yoga?

    Thanks ~eve~

Argue for your limitations, and sure enough they are yours.

    R. Bach

I wear tiny two pieces that consist of itty bitty hot shorts and a vest type top.

I only wear things that are designed for swimming to allow for quick drying.

Now if I could only find something teeny made from something organic and non synthetic I would be an even happier hot yogini!
