in reply to: Extreme soreness and fatigue #8188
always a shower for me afterwards, wash all the sweat away and seems to relax the muscles.
in reply to: Extreme soreness and fatigue #8176Are you drinking something woth electrolytes? Like coconut water or Ultima, if not try that.
That helped me a lot.
Marilynin reply to: I am 45 and I had a heart attack last Sunday. #7794I don’t know any of your answers to your questions just wanted to say I am glad you are okay, it hits us hard when someone young has a heart attack. I hope you are able to come back to the hot yoga soon. Am anxious to here what Gabriel says.
Take care of yourself and god bless.
Marilynin reply to: Hydrating before the class. #7712Some one here mentioned coconut water before practice and I have found that helps me a lot.
Marilynin reply to: First time #7678I missed 2 weeks of yoga due to vacation finally went back today. Felt like the first time in some ways but feel good about the workout. I am tired and sore but proud I did it!!!!
in reply to: After class #7677I don’t stay long in the room, it is so hot by then I just want some fresh air. I notice most people get up right away also.
in reply to: yoga free vacation #7676I did it, I just took a deep breath and got ready and went. When I got there a man from the previous class said how hard it was after he had been gone for 2 weeks, I said oh that is me I am afraid of how challenging it will be. The instructor said to clear my mind and go in then it will fall into place.
I had forgotten how haot it was, I was afraid I hadn’t drank enough water…..when I layed down the thoughts started flowing…so I took a breath and relaxed. It was hard but I was able to do a lot, I did have to lay down but when I was doing a pose I pushed myself. It was a good workout.
I am really tired and a little sore, I can feel the detoxifying effects also. I am ready to go back tomorrow.
in reply to: yoga free vacation #7673I too have been on vacation and am feeling the same thing, afraid to go. I was going to go this morning and find myself making excuses. What does this to us?
in reply to: Help with arm positioning #7531I can barely get my arms under the side so fingers touching isn’t happening!
I just wondered if there was any helpful advice or if it is just something that takes
a while and how long it usually takes people to do this.
Marilynin reply to: Help with arm positioning #7529I just cant seem to get my arms and hands in the correct position, it really hurts the writs to turn them like this, any helpful advice?
in reply to: Taming the Monkey Mind #7521I am still new at this, I finished my intro class and now signed up for a year. One
thing I do is when I first go in the room and lay down is I go through each Chakra, relaxing and releasing each one. When I get to the Crown Chakra I feel very in tuned to my body. I tell myself that I am connected with the practice and will stay in the now with each pose. Then at the end I do the same thing and end the focus on how better my body feels.Last night I was so into it that someone threw thier mat on the floor beside me
and I felt myself jump. Had to start all over with the Root Chakra!Anyhow this has helped me focus on each routine and not jump to thinking about the next or whatever else pops into my mind.
Hope this helps.
Marilynin reply to: First time #7393I am at Kentridge! Okay, I will look for the person with no shoes…too funny.
I will probibly try to work out something. I have a hard time balancing too.
Sometimes I do well then others not at all.Okay, will look for you tonight!
Marilynin reply to: First time #7391Pamela, that is just too funny, were you there last night with the instructor with all
the tatoos? I started last Sat with the 7:30 am class and on sun, then Monday went to the 6:15 am class and during the week the 4:30pm class.I am in the back kind of the middle!! I got my coconut water at Fred Meyers, they had a few flavors and it is over by the health food stuff. Has a special 2 for 4 dolalrs.I think regular 2.99.
Now to make this even funnier is LInda, the instructor that taught Sat and Sun am
and then wed pm’s class came in to my office yesterday. I work at a local High School
and she came with her daughter to pick up something. Was fun because she then answered a few questions I had. I just love this yoga and when my pass is over I
won’t do it as often due to cost but for sure will continue.I will look for you tonight!
Marilynin reply to: First time #7389Yes I am in Renton and go to the Renton studio. I am drinking less water during class too. I saw they had a few flavors of coconut water but I have always liked the taste of coconut water so have no problem with it.
I am finding it interesting having so many instructors and different styles. They are all good and I think it is great. Day five and still loving it,
Marilynin reply to: Rounded shoulders #7386I have a question, along with rounded shoulders the neck being forward, I am working hard at getting my neck back in line. Working at a computor I lean my head forward and am told that is how you devlelop like a little hump. When I am laying on the floor and we bring the knee up we are told chin down neck along the floor,
can you really get your neck to the floor?Thank you for all your information. I am a newbie and will be doing my 6th straight day.
Marilynin reply to: First time #7384Yes it was warm and the next two days are suppose to hit the 90’s. I did go to class and was able to push myself more but am sore now! When I got home my husband said a hot yoga studio by Greenlake was in the news. The people coming out said they loved this weather because after being in class it felt cool to walk outside, he thought that was so funny.
I have only been sipping a little of the coconut water, wasn’t sure how much I should drink so now I will drink more.
Thank you for the encouragement, I appreciate it!
Marilyn
in reply to: First time #7379I went at lunch and got some coconut water, drank some after workout and felt good.
It is interesting going to so many different times of yoga and the different teachers. Some are very proactive in helping you get into the moves others aren’t. I was very impressed with the afternoon class. I can feel I am going further into the stretches. I have also noticed during the day I am more concious on my posture.I was reading some posts on alcohol and I do like my evening drink but almost right away noticed I wasn’t enjoying it and so for the last two days havne’t had anything but water and feel fine with that.
We have finally gotten our summer weather here in Seattle (Renton) WA and so it is really a mindset to go to class instead of outside in the sun but I am committed to doing this for 14 days(length of my pass). Posting here is helping me keep myself accountable.
in reply to: Shoulders/upper arms behind the ears… #7371Gabrielle I forgot to answer your question regarding the neck and shoulders, I work at a computer during the day and have for about 10 years, I noticed my posture getting worse, I now sit on a balance ball and that it helping. I think now I need to work on keeping my head back.
Marilynin reply to: Shoulders/upper arms behind the ears… #7370I will keep working on getting my arms up straight and locking my knees. I finally figured out what it meant to pull up the knees. I love this site!
Marilynin reply to: First time #7363Made it to day 3, feeling better, back ws sore yesterday. Tomorrow will have to go after work and we will see how tht works.
in reply to: First time #7351Okay will check into getting coconut water! Thank you
Marilynin reply to: Shoulders/upper arms behind the ears… #7350Gabriel can you give any suggestions on how to keep the arms up straight and by the ears. I just can’t get my arms to go back and be straight. The instructor said to lock the elbows, I have such a hard time doing this and also locking the knees. Regular yoga I was always told to keep the knees bent.
Any suggestions?
Marilyin reply to: What are the benefits of a 30-day challenge #7349I was wondering this too. What kind of schedual do most people do? I am only on day two of a 14 day unlimited pass. I plan on going each day but once the pass is over I will have to figure out just how much I can afford. Is once or twice a week worth it?
Do you still get benefits if you do it less.I love this site and all the information.
Marilynin reply to: First time #7347Thank you for your input, I did drink a lot of water yesterday and actually more during the workout and didn’t have a headache. Will try less during class and just more afterwards. I do have coconut milk but not water, would that work?
Day 3 tomorrow I am pretty sore right now but a good sore.
Marilyn
in reply to: First time #7344Thank you to both of you. I was so nervous for my first time, today I am much more relaxed.
Maybe since I am doing the morning one I didn’t drink enough water also during it I didn’t drink except when everyone did and this time I will drink when we are done with poses which the instructor said we could do, I was also afraid to drink too much
in case I needed to go to the restroom, then I saw if we need to leave we can quietly leave. So I am ready to go this morning and enjoy myself.I also am so glad I found this site, the information is wonderful and movtivating!
