I joined hot yoga doctor just to respond to you guys bc I think that I know why it’s bothering you. When a person has hypothyroidism which is an immune system response to the thyroids, the thyroid can become enlarged. This is called a goiter. Even if you don’t have a goiter, when the thyroid is not functioning, most people with hypothyroidism report discomfort with turtle necks, high necked zippers, and shirts that press on that area. Discomfort can also be felt in positions where the thyroid or surrounding ligaments are engaged.I am like this. I can’t stand anything on my neck. I hate when anyone hugs me in a way that their arm crosses my neck and presses it. It’s a sensation that I can’t stand and it stays with me. It is so uncomfortable for me to wear anything on my neck…even scarves. I have a form of hypothyroidism called Hashimoto’s Disease. I would recommend getting checked out by an endocrinologist, a doctor that specializes in the endocrine system of the body which includes the thyroid. Regular doctors sometimes miss the signs. I had several doctors miss it until I finally had a slightly abnormal blood test. Then I went to see one and with a sonogram of the throat we were able to see all the antibodies that had clumped up to attack my own thyroid. I’m on medicine now to supplement the hormone that my thyroid is no longer able to make. I hope that my information helps. Even if its not any of what I said, at least you can rule it out if you see the right doctor. Good luck to all of you!!
