FAQ

Why aren’t all the poses in there?

The short answer is that I shifted my focus to running Teacher Training Programs and stopped at 17 titles. Each of these discs took 1 month – full-time – to create, record and publish. That was 1 and a half years of my life! When I started to run teacher training programs I didn’t have time to do both! However, you will find all the poses covered address all the major elements of all the poses. You will take what you learn and apply it to the other poses. This is the way I have always taught. I steer away from teaching the class as the repeated recited dialog dictates because that doesn’t encourage cross-fertilization of your existing knowledge of the poses. I distill the elements of the poses down to things you can appreciate in many of the poses.  My approach gives you an holistic appreciation of the yoga and empowers you to take  your learnings from one pose to the others. Move from the scripted approach to a real ‘helicopter view’ and feel the enormous difference it makes to you!

Can I use these at my studio?

You may use these for private use. Have a set at your studio and lend them out to your students or teachers. I am a Bikram teacher. Can I get in trouble from Bikram for using these DVDs?

You may be very surprised to know that many hundreds of teachers already use my resources. I have a great analogy for you. When you learn to speak and read you don’t need permission to use other words in the dictionary. Same goes here. To be a great teacher, you need to be a specialist in your field. When you know just some of the fine details it helps you create a better connection with your students. It also has the enviable outcome of making you a more interesting and better teacher. Curiosity is the big prize. And trust. Your students learn that instead of blindly following a script that they can be much more mindful of their practice by paying attention to the better detail. I know these techniques work. And what happens is students learn to trust the voice they are hearing outside (you) and their inner voice (guiding them to listen to their bodies). The payoff is having a more highly disciplined class that pays more attention to you, trusts you, trusts themselves and feels connected to you, their body and their practice.
